Maybe it’s where I’m from, but rule #1 is you don’t talk to the police unless you’ve initiated that encounter. “Am I being detained or am I free to go?!” Repeat that question until answered. If you’re being detained, shut up. If taken into custody, ask for an attorney and shut up. Good for the mayor in reminding people of their rights!
