Marjorie Taylor Greene has accused Republicans of making fun of Donald Trump behind his back but “kissing his ass” in public.

Once one of the president’s most loyal Maga cheerleaders, the Georgia representative has now become one of the president’s most prominent critics after a public fallout over the Epstein files.

Speaking on CBS’s 60 Minutes on Sunday night, Ms Greene said: “I watched many of my colleagues go from making fun of him, making fun of how he talks, making fun of me constantly for supporting him, to when he won the primary in 2024, they all started – excuse my language – kissing his ass.”

Referring to Mr Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan, Ms Green told Lesley Stahl, the show’s host, that the Republican only “decided to put on a Maga hat for the first time” when he appeared to have a better chance of being re-elected last year.

Asked whether her fellow politicians in Congress were afraid to speak out against Mr Trump, the conservative congresswoman said they were “terrified to step out of line and get a nasty Truth Social post on them”.

Last month, Ms Greene, 51, announced she would resign from her Georgia seat in January after leading a rebellion against the president to try and force the release of all files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Mr Trump has called her a “lunatic” and a “traitor” and has attacked her online, in what she says “directly fuelled” a wave of death threats aimed at her and her son.

“The subject line for the direct death threats on my son was his words: ‘Marjorie Traitor Greene’,” Ms Greene said, referring to the president’s new nickname for her.

“Those were death threats directly fuelled by President Trump,” she said, adding that there was even a threat to plant a pipe bomb near her home.

Over the weekend, she wrote on X that threats to her life had previously only come “from the Left”, until she spoke out in defence of Epstein’s victims.

“Then new death threats and harassment came from the Right or somewhere,” Ms Greene said.

She said she had also alerted JD Vance, the vice-president, about the threats, who informed her the Trump administration would look into it, while Mr Trump sent an “extremely unkind” response.

“I sent … assassination threats on my son to President Trump, in which he responded with harsh accusatory replies and zero sympathy,” she told 60 Minutes.

She also reiterated her concern that Mr Trump’s policies were not “America First” and argued that the president was too focused on his international agenda.

“For an America First president, the number one focus should have been domestic policy, and it wasn’t,” she said.

“Once we fix everything here, then fine, we’ll talk to the rest of the world”.

Ms Greene added that she no longer identified with the Maga label, saying the movement only belonged to Mr Trump.

“That’s his political policies. I call myself America First,” she said.

Amid growing speculation she may be gearing up a run at the presidency in 2028, Ms Greene said she had no further political ambitions at the moment: “I’m not your politician with a whole itinerary of plans or political ambitions.”

  2. That’s all this ***** did for the last 9 yeas. Why did she wake up all of a sudden? What is she going to try and run for that she wants to distance herself from this turd?

  3. Water is wet and you can save up to 15 percent in 15 minutes or less if you switch over to Geico.

Just because a broken clock is right twice a day doesn’t mean you should be amplifying a literal white supremacist’s message. I don’t know why liberals love this type of crap. Liberals need to wake up already. These literal Nazis need to be shunned from society completely, not given a platform just because you agree with one thing they said one time against a person you despise.

Lol didn’t she show up to a congressional meeting in casual attire decked out in MAGA merch?

  6. A true point broadly, and even truer for the ones she was specifically talking about—the ones who trash talked him during his years out of power, but came to kiss the ring once he secured the 2024 nomination, and who fell at his feet when he won the general election.

Her whole “60 Minutes” interview is just being honest and saying what everyone has known since 2016. They don’t like him, but they are afraid of him because he steers the radical and politically active voting bloc that makes up the overwhelming majority of people who vote in primaries.

The GOP could organize and neuter Trump, but they obviously don’t trust one another enough to do it. So they’re all going along to get along and trying to hold on to power on a per-office basis. When Trump is gone – especially if he is suddenly removed due to his health – the infighting is going to be the bedtime stories parents will tell their kids to keep them from growing up to become politicians.

I don’t think anyone had MTG being one of the first rats to leave the sinking ship Trump.

There no shock in that revelation! She had her head so far up his ass she could give him a dental exam. What happened?

  12. I would love for her to explain how her support from different, or was she simply lying to all Americans about Trumps inability to lead as well?

She says she’s not MAGA, but “America First”. But voted to kill 50k americans next year and starve many more just to give tax cuts to the rich.

The thing Trump doesn’t get is that no matter how powerful he becomes, no sane person is ever truly going to *respect* him. Not his party members. Not his voters. Nobody.

  15. So did she for a long time. Cue they do it not me statements. She fueled the hate and fan the flames until it was inconvenient for her. Remember her and her buddy brobert yelling in congress

  16. As if she lost coverage up there and came up for some fresh directions. Damn you, Google maps!

  17. “Trump’s puckered asshole” would be a good chapstick flavor to give to the Republicans in your life this Christmas.

  18. It only took her getting outcast from the circle to call them out. That is what a cult does.

  19. She needs to just shut up and move along. She was the ultimate ass kisser for years. Just go away!

  20. And it’s infuriating because she was absolutely one of them doing it until he snubbed her for a cabinet position and killed her hopes for a senate run. And if he hadn’t, she’d still be kissing his ass and praising him right now. But as it always goes with republicans, she suddenly understands now that she’s been personally affected.

    MTG is a classic Republican.

Trolled her way into office, raked in millions while doing absolutely nothing for her constituents, made a huge mess by cheerleading and voting for policies that actively hurt her constituents, noped out as soon as she couldn’t profit further… And now claims to stand for the opposite of all that.

Fuck her. Hope she goes bankrupt quickly.

You know how republicans are always crying about “cancel culture”? It’s because they fear not kissing his ass will get them canceled by the same people who cry about cancel culture.
