  1. Wanna bet he’s going to start saying shit that’ll cause his base to send death threats to people, when she stays in jail?

  2. She *will* stay in that jail. Because he doesn’t have the ability to deem otherwise, and Polis, for all his many many many flaws, sure as shit isn’t doing it.

  3. It is utterly obscene how one person via the pardon power was able to kill justice for the crimes committed before & on January 6, simply by winning an election; for himself, for over 1500 rioters, and for his co-conspirators in the elector fraud scheme. It is a deliberate erasure of what happened. Pardoning Tina Peters is part of this sad retcon of the truth.

  4. As another commenter notes, there’s no headlines mentioning that he can’t pardon her. Corporate media, and even whatever this site is, are willfully or perhaps ignorantly expanding trumps authority by normalizing his overreach.

if trump is successful in this, the us will officially be a autocracy.

  5. It was reported that she keeps getting written up for insubordination in prison, people like her belong behind bars. No remorse, no self-awareness, no admission of wrongdoing.

  6. It is beyond the pale that Trump is even getting involved with the Tina Peters saga.

Tina lied and lied after trying to fuck up Western Colorado’s clinical vote. Who knows how much payola money she got in order to fuck things up. There are rumors.

Trump’s assertion is so mafia-like threatening for “a good soldier.” But at a federal level, the Trump administration does not even know what she did!

Thankfully, in Colorado our judges will not fall for this Mafia strong-arming. But who knows how long this will last.

  7. Trump does not give one flying fuck about Tina Peters.

This is about Trump once again wanting to get in front of the Supreme Court so they can expand his powers again. Trump’s objective is to likely argue that the Supremacy Clause grants him the power to pardon state crimes, and he knows that no matter how many mental gymnastics he has to jump through to make that case, SCOTUS is willing to entertain it.

That’s what this case is about. He doesn’t care about Tina Peters. He sees her as justification to expand his presidential authority, pardon and release his allies incarcerated on state crimes, expand his bribery and corruption racket, and possibly set up a future self-pardon for state crimes later.

And given SCOTUS’s track record, there is a very real chance he will succeed. I’m not saying he *should*. I am saying that he probably will anyway, as they have repeatedly signaled their willingness to go along with whatever Trump says, justification be damned.

  8. So how soon before ICE storms the jail and frees her?

And then the national guard of Colorado could actually intervene.

  9. Redshirt_Welshy_Nooo on

For Republicans (top to bottom) it is a completely radical concept that other Republicans should have to follow laws or face consequences for crimes.

  10. All the ones that he has released should serve their time. She is no different. If he also releases her, it’ll be SNAFU In another indictment on the long Ledger of indictments that his legacy will face.
