If it works for Australia who are we to say? We certainly don’t care about slavery in other Countries. The whole JD Vance commentary trying to sell guns after this? Is like going to a funeral selling Fentanyl after a heroine OD.

The shooters were ISIS. ISIS will always be able to get guns, no matter what laws you pass.

Good for them, swift reaction after a horrible massacre of their citizens by guns. The USA could learn a few things.

But, how will Australians exercise their god given right to murder unarmed children? Won’t some one think of the people that want to murder unarmed children!?!

Hey look at that, a government reacting to a horrid situation because they want to emphasize that is not tolerated or representative of their nation.

Australian gun laws already helped. The attackers had to use shotguns, because they couldn’t get assault rifles.

Completely wrong approach. They clearly need MORE guns to protect from the other guns. Yeah there may be a few more shootings but [these things happen](https://youtu.be/PX-lF2QACzk?si=93ekidE6wMY9vqck) 🤷♂️

Much like the UK did with Dunblane. Feels like common sense to me but what do I know?

Australia after gun laws had this once in 30 years.
With tougher gun laws then maybe once in 60 years.
Meanwhile in America, this thing happens once every week.

Let’s go US. One horrific incident and they want change. While here……. 😢 😔

This is one of the many things I love about Australia.
Gun ownership there is akin to owning a piece of equipment. Yessirree, bob, you can own that 18 wheeler, but there are rules and regs about who can drive it and where.
And you can’t own a tank.
If the rules prove to be deficient, Australians can write new ones. Same with guns.
It is a rational approach that lets hunters and farmers get on with what they have to do, but doesn’t foster the same sort of religious zeal that plagues other jurisdictions.
Yet another reason why visiting Australia feels like visiting a sibling, to this Canadian.

Wait, they are not going to allow everyone to get a gun because here I’m merica they say the more guns the less likely people do mass killings.

lmao, look at these rookies. Changing gun laws in reaction to a mass shooting. Who’s going to tell them that doesn’t work?

Gun laws aren’t the problem here. The shooter that provided the guns was on an ASIO watchlist due to IS affiliation/sympathies, yet his legally owned guns weren’t removed from him.
This is a failure of communication between Australian intelligence and police services. If they had done their job, the situation would have been different.
The solution here would have been to remove his guns from him as someone unfit to possess them.
…in which case they would have used the bombs they had in the vehicle; or a vehicle itself; or anything else.
Gun laws are just popular low-hanging fruit here.

Shooter was known to the Australian domestic intelligence agency for ties to ISIS. No surprise Australia is blaming guns over their failure to monitor and stop the terrorist.
