“Here’s the false narrative: Democrats are pretending as though this affects everybody in the country,” Johnson told [CNBC](https://x.com/factpostnews/status/2001314744070803564?s=20) two hours before the Republican defection. “It affects seven percent of Americans, this extended subsidy.”

Even if this were true, the Speaker is stating he is fine fucking over 7% of the population. I mean, yes, we all know he’s fine fucking over 99% of Americans but would never say it openly, but that he is comfortable admitting this outright is pretty bold.

  2. I think this is performative. It’s good in that itll get these ghouls on record but it won’t change anything re: credits expiring. There’s a 7 legislative day waiting period after a discharge petition is passed, couple that with the amount of working days left for lawmakers this calendar year and holiday schedules and it pushes an actual vote passed the expiration deadline.

  3. The discharge petition to force a vote in the House on a three-year extension of ACA subsidies has succeeded! Unfortunately even if it passes the House, the bill can be filibustered in the Senate, and there were only 51 votes in favor of the extension last time in Senate, so that means 9 GOP Senators will have to change their minds. It’s a very tall order, but you know what, I will celebrate every time Mike Johnson gets fucked over.

  4. Wow who could’ve imagined the shutdown could have become even more pointless in hindsight

  5. So sad it has to come to this. I can’t wait until Mike Johnston is no longer in charge. He’s awful for America.

  6. Wait, wait… forcing a vote is now considered rebellion? Not even passing anything, just voting on it. The bar is literally underground at this point

  7. Republicans hate Americans.

They want the money and security for themselves instead of their constituents.

It would be better if the subsidies lapsed so that people would feel the pain of Trump’s health “plan”. Repubs ride the coat-tails of dems fixing things.

This will help Republicans seize power, and then the ACA is gone.

Good on them. Some Republicans, no matter how disgusting, are still trying to serve their constituents to get re-elected.

The rest of the House GOP all took one step back when the time came for people to fall on this hand grenade.

These republican congressional representatives gave their own party & leadership every opportunity to do the right thing on their own.. like how a few forced the vote on Epstein files release

I suspect now that a vote is forced, a majority of republicans will vote yes

Anything that stops these Christofascist monsters like Johnson is a win. How they call themselves Christians while willfully imposing harmful policies for their donors to enrich themselves further will surely burn them for eternity in a special hell…

And let’s not pretend this is a new leaf turning over for these Congress people, they’re only fighting this due to midterms and their own self preservation.

Hopefully a MAGA candidate replaces these four in the primaries. I love when the Republicans eat their own

Political theatre: when midterms roll around they can say they stood up to little Mike Johnson.

    Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1)

    Mike Lawler (NY-17)

    Robert Bresnahan (PA-8)

    Ryan Mackenzie (PA-7)

  16. So many discharge petitions have been successful. Mike Johnson has got to be the weakest House Speaker in modern history.

  17. Why does it take representatives to defect from party lines to force a vote. It’s not like Johnson has something better…. Or even anything for that matter

  18. This is the GOP’s last chance to save THEIR healthcare plan that they called ‘Obamacare.’ If they can’t get us a stopgap solution that profits the rich soon, we might have to look at real alternatives. Act fast, sellouts!
