because it confirms they have no idea what they’re doing and would interfere with the fact that they have absolutely zero desire to change.

Because they more than likely lost because of their support for Israel, but they can’t Amit that to there donors

  3. FlirtFirmwares- on

Yeah, I get why people are asking that. If they’re not being open about what went wrong last time, it’s hard to believe they’ve actually fixed anything for this time around. Feels like they’re hoping we’ll just forget

  4. Good_Entertainer9383 on

No matter what the autopsy says, it’s very clear to me from the partys behavior, that they have learned absolutely nothing from 2024.

  5. BlushingOnPurpose on

maybe the report points to deeper issues like ignoring working class voices across race and geography. transparency matters but so does honest self reflection.

  6. Israel and Palestine, Ukraine, cowtowing to trump, ignoring the left side to cater to the “moderate right” they dont get.

At least thats why they’ve lost me.

  7. Probably hoping that with enough deflection and pointing fingers at others, people will forget what they did these past few years.

  8. The authors’ own analysis is accurate and they’ve placed the main reason in the top spot – Harris failed to connect with voters. She polled very well upon the initial announcement of her replacement for Biden, which suggests voters liked the “idea” of Kamala Harris. But then she handled the relatively brief campaign before the election poorly. She was unable to articulate a clear vision of her policy objectives, how they would differ from Biden’s, how she’d improve affordability, the housing crisis, and improve the life of the middle class and working person beyond gimmicks like “no tax on tips.” After a few high profile missions to Latin America early on in Biden’s term, she seemed to become a cipher in his administration for years. Then, thrust on the scene, she revealed what an empty vessel she really was and people turned away. All the while, Trump was promising to “fix” everything and restore a “golden age.” Of course, it was all lies, but represented hope in the face of the perceived certainty that nothing would change under Harris. She basically articulated the “stay the course” option that sank Herbert Walker Bush’s campaign.

Because they have no idea why the corporate sponsored status quo isn’t popular. The DNC has zero interest in anything their aipac and corporate donors don’t approve of. The only reason people hold their noses and vote D is the alternative is mask off fascism. Except people are starting to realize there is no left or even center party and the democrats are a political arm of the billionaires.

All you have to do is read the comments here and you’ll know exactly why they didn’t release the report.

No matter what it says, people want to shit on democrats and will find any excuse to do so.

  11. SmirkAndRepeat on

if theyre not releasing it, it probably says “we assumed enthusiasm = turnout” and “ignored the working class again”. no need to hide… everyone already knows

The leaders of the party have no choice but to ignore and suppress it. Acknowledging and addressing the reasons why they lost to the worst presidential candidate in the history of the United States would result in said leaders no longer holding positions of power and influence.

  13. It’s hard to believe that it’s less of a strategic issue than it is about simply protecting the reputations of party insiders. Too bad because they may potentially blow the whole swing away from MAGA. They are failing to recognize that they need to change the Democratic Party to attract voters instead of simply hoping disillusioned Trump voters will come their way. They may simply stay home and,if they do, the Dems with their 30% approval, cannot win.

  14. Democratic voters have been trying to move past Bush II ever since Obama’s resounding 08 victory which was supposed to be mandate for change.

Instead we’ve had 20 years of democrats, many of them in office for that entirety, running apologia for Middle Eastern conflicts and continued giveaways for oil companies, and that’s while democrats are in office. Couple that with Trump just auctioning off our public resources and massive cuts for the wealthy and it’s no wonder voters want change, theyve been screaming for it for 20 years!

You see this phenomenon every time a young progressive breaks out. Obama, AOC, and now Mamdani. How progressive Obama actually was is beside the point, he was happy to let people believe that about him. Without the suffocating political environment rewarding corporatists, the Democratic Party would be in a much different place. We should be in Sanders second term right now.

Watch them come out with a Newsom / Clinton ticket or some stupid shit that announces that they haven’t learned anything and can’t wait to give Republicans four more years.

  16. Did they learn anything from the last “autopsy”? Or did they just perform the Principal Skinner meme again?

  17. fascistSkullCrusher on

Because it says to get rid of old establishment status quo types and to do socialism. Use the government to decommodify healthcare and housing. Medicare for all, public housing projects and ban private equity companies from buying up all the homes

  18. Thin-Competition3018 on

I can not say that this report should pin everything on the dems.

There are some themes here about the US electorate. Not certain the leadership can pick up on those.

But the dems failure is not simply about how they handled the election.

  19. GiantTinyBalls on

The dead don’t autopsy themselves. They don’t want to discover they are sellouts to corporate lobbyists, tech bros and billionaires, too. Who will autopsy the U.S. and examine why we only have two broken political parties?

  20. The DNC *wants* to lose. 2025 has been one of the best fundraising years in memory and dems haven’t even had to govern.

  21. Kamala was not tested in a primary -or even at a real convention vote. If she was, it wouldn’t have been the same “blue no matter who” scenario.

Kamala wouldn’t discuss how her policies would be different from Biden. Geopolitics, Finance, etc… many policies that were extremely unpopular.

This was the third go around where a candidate was chosen for the people to avoid the possibility that a people’s candidate might emerge.

  22. Because, ultimately, losing the 2024 election wasn’t a bad thing for most of their donors.

Now… if a Progressive got elected, you would see them scrambling in their offices, calling in deals from across the aisle and creating the strongest coalition you’ve ever seen.

  23. Harris tried to be a republican light. Republicans want a hard right candidate. Instead of trying to motivate the base with the most voter apathy they tried to get the hard republicans to vote for them who would never do so. I see so many on reddit say they need a moderate. No they really don’t. Republicans will vote for a republican candidate. And dems keep ignoring the left side thinking that their vote won’t be a deciding factor even though it absolutely is! Even in Bidens elections even though biden did say i’m a president for all which was reassuring he talked about being pro peoples rights and consistently being pro science and talked about how trump is an idiot. I don’t know how many people I talked to say they did not vote because harris seemed so right wing.

  24. Dems are going to win in 2026 and use it as an excuse to still not take any learnings away from losses like 2024. That being said, I still have heavy suspicions that 2024 was tampered with by the likes of Elon, but not willing to be a crazy election denier so let’s just get on with it.

  25. The lost because they spent four yrs fumbling a message, originally tried to run an unpopular visibly declining incumbent, had to switch candidates too late, and were basically for campaign finance laws forced to pivot to an unpopular vp who chose the middle ground while never separating herself from Biden.

  26. Infinite_Run_4541 on

We lost because we live in a racist and misogynist society (not to mention homophobic) filled with undereducated and ethnocentric people that no longer value civil discourse and lack critical thinking skills.

  27. They lost because theyre more interested in protecting the establishment in their party than winning they still get paid, they still get Healthcare, they still get insider trading. They dont care if theyre winning as long as they get theirs

  28. They won’t. Cuz they kno better than everyone, duh! Oh, that and they prefer trump over a progressive candidate… shhhh, don’t say it out loud. The party gets more donations when they’re without power. The same that gun store owners would prefer to have a Dem ALWAYS as president, as gun sales are far better when the QOP’s not in office

  29. Dem leadership is being pulled farther right by their benefactors: corporations and superpacs, particularly AIPAC. Bernie Sanders has spoken to this accurately and extensively. Harris stumping with Liz Cheney and her refusal to speak out about Palestine were appalling examples. My speculation is that whatever is in that 2024 analysis goes against those benefactors wishes. This will continue until the leadership is primaried and replaced by progressives and social democrats.

  30. MrInternetInventor on

Because they are too busy creating the “President Gavin Newsom is inevitable” narrative

  31. Because it was dumb to ever release these publicly anyway. Why give your opposition ammunition?

  32. At this point does it really matter? We are going into 2026 and the focus should be on getting to our goal post rather than fretting about why our main player fumbled in the first half? The prudent thing to do is redesign the play and get to and through the goal line

  33. I’ve had enough of the old guard, doing nothing so they can fund raise on the promise of doing something only to do nothing so the can fund raise on doing something. Kamala sent me a fundraising text yesterday saying she stared a new PAC and needed my contribution.

  34. Don’t need an autopsy. The DNC is gonna say we should focus on “kitchen table issues” and that we should pretend trump doesn’t exist. They’ll want to drive us towards the center so we can lose another election to conservative extremists

  35. The autopsy report likely indicates the election system is compromised, and they don’t want to sound like Trump did in 2020 and 2021. The well of honest discourse about the health of our democracy is full of toxic sludge, trying to even start that conversation is nearly impossible.

  36. Kind-City-2173 on

Harris lost primarily because of inflation. No one from the Biden admin had a chance. Her answer about doing nothing different than Biden was horrible

  37. Because the news is horrendous right now for the Republicans. The DNC is not interested in changing the subject away from the economy, decay of our rights, murdering fishermen – war crimes, mental decay of the current president, Epstein files, etc.

While Americans are watching those headlines nobody is begging for a detailed analytical report on why they lost the election. Not everyone is a political junky.

  38. Here’s a full analysis for you: Joe Biden dropped out of the race a few months before the election leaving the democrat party scrambling. I honestly think Harris performed okay given the hand she was dealt.
