Yeah, that Wall Street Journal article was popular on the conservative subreddit.

calling it “theft” isn’t hyperbole if the money vanished without oversight, audit, or public input. legality doesn’t always mean legitimacy.

At my job I was tasked with putting together my rural county’s fiber implementation map. We were allocated roughly $30 million via the state pass through from the feds program.
We found that we could cover roughly 95% of all households in our county with fiber to the property. We solicited bids from multiple providers and ultimately chose the local providers who could scale the over 300 miles of fiber in the ground. Costs were capped at $50 a month for 1 GB symmetrical for the first 5 years at least.
We could have done this once properly and never had to do it again for at least 50 years.
THAT IS ALL GONE
Now it’s just all flowing to Musk and starlink which is an inferior product at a much higher monthly price. I cannot express to you how angry I am about this and how rural voters continue voting to screw themselves.

The writers at The Wall Street Journal are great when it comes to dissecting what would benefit their portfolios. They are dog shit when it comes to thinking like empathetic humans.

If you ever wondered what financial media applause sounds like, this is it: polite, detached clapping for something that only matters in spreadsheets. Meanwhile voters are like “cool story bro, got cheaper groceries yet?”

WSJ fans Republicans the way a hype man cheers for a magician pulling coins out of an ear, it feels fancy until you realize the trick hasn’t helped most Americans’ wallets in your ears. Clap if you want, reality still hits every bill cycle.

The corrupt, illegal theft of taxpayers money is what Trump and his followers are in it for. That’s the goal of their game. That’s why they do it. That’s what the MAGA voters elected.

Prison for all these people. Shocking that the republican WSJ is cheering on my the theft of tax payer money.
