  1. Knew this was coming.

It was never about fraud; it was about ending a social safety net that benefited the poor.

Oh, is this what they were setting up with those conspiracy theory videos featuring the weirdos trying to break into day cares? Always another manufactured crisis to keep us busy and distracted. Another year before anything can be remotely done about it…

Nothing says Happy Fucking New Year like taking funds away from kids and families that are probably living on the margin already.

  4. Party of “fuck the poors,” and “lawnorder”.

Did you think they’ve been saying, “law and order”? Oh, honey.

  5. hey there was fraud that was already being investigated and some perpetrators in custody

At this rate…our prosperity is gone. He can’t cover costs. He’s spent it all out through his own unchecked and undocumented projects. He’s already not paying his bills. There’s a small legion of rich grifters “winning” while the idiots get angry at strangers.

    Trump Logic…..
    Force women to give birth
Force women to watch child starve

Not sure whose pocket this policy enriches…

  9. I remember, during the campaign, someone asked a question about childcare, and how important it is, and how difficult it is for families to be able to afford it. It was a thoughtful, non-gotcha sort of question about what policies he might enact.

Trump answered by rambling on about tariffs for about 4-5 minutes, never *once* addressing the question, and the audience applauded.

    Applauded.

They are getting the childcare he promised.

My heart goes out to the children who absolutely love Miss Millie or whatever, and suddenly can’t go see her anymore.

  10. Guys 2026 is the year we put the rubber to the road and protest like it’s 1776. It’s Americas 250th anniversary and I’ll be damned if we sit around and let Trump and MAGA-publicans shit all over the legacy of the founding fathers. Trump may be driving the bus rn but we fuckin own it 😤

  11. Another proof Trump hates kids(anything by extension,as this vital help is to their parents)and,he’s a child rapist.

  12. So why didn’t the Elon bunch discovery this massive fraud and over spending in the government when they were searching for massive fraud and over spending in the government?

“To distract from the Epstein fallout, Trump administration freezes all childcare payments to all states”
    That’s the correct headline

  14. I sure love it when my fellow citizens vote for increased taxes, decreased government services, AND ballooning the deficit! Good job guys!

How exactly does this work in their minds?

They want us to work for shit pay, have children but not be able to afford them, not offer safety nets, not offer cheap rent or affordable housing, being homeless is also illegal, not be able to afford to have a parent stay home and take care of their kids, they don’t want free education.

We’re gonna reach a point, and in many cases already have, where people literally can’t even afford to buy the shit they’re selling or afford to live. How’s that gonna work for their own bottom line when no one can even buy their products?

What’s even the end game if NOT actual slavery?

Someone from their side actually explain it to me like I’m 5.

Explain how you expect people to afford the products you produce if you refuse to pay a living wage but also don’t want to give any social safety nets?

Explain how you expect people to willingly have children when we can’t even afford to live ourselves?

Explain how you want women back in the homes and expect people to live on one shitty income?

What is it that the ruling class even wants? They have everything, don’t pay taxes, and blame others for all the world’s problems.

    >The Department of Health and Human Services is freezing all childcare payments to all states, an official for Donald Trump’s administration told ABC News in a report published Wednesday. States’ funds will be released “only when states prove they are being spent legitimately”.

    >The report came a day after Jim O’Neill, the HHS deputy secretary, and Alex Adams, an HHS assistant secretary who oversees the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), appeared in a Tuesday evening video message. O’Neill declared that the department had “activated our defend-the-spend system for all ACF childcare payments across America” and would now require “justification, receipt or photo evidence before we make a payment”.

    >Originally, O’Neill and Adams’s message was interpreted as an announcement that HHS would stop childcare funding in Minnesota, not all 50 states. However, the Associated Press reported late Wednesday that the freeze would apply to every state and that all states would need to provide more documentation about their childcare programs before receiving federal money.

    >The department did not immediately reply to a Guardian request for comment to clarify the nature of the freeze, but HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon told ABC News that “it’s the onus of the state to make sure that these funds, these federal dollars, taxpayer dollars, are being used for legitimate purposes”.

    >Recipients of childcare funding will have to provide HHS with extensive documentation, such as “attendance records, licensing, inspection and monitoring reports, complaints and investigations”, Nixon added.

    >The changes to US childcare services as part of a response to a viral video, made by a self-described “independent journalist” and rightwing influencer, that purported to discover massive fraud at daycare centers operated by Somali Americans in Minneapolis.

    >However, other news outlets have not been able to verify the claims made in the video. Allegations of exploitation of Minnesota’s social safety net have also been extensively covered by local and national news media over the past several years, and prosecutors brought charges over one allegedly massive scheme during the Biden administration.

    >In recent weeks, Trump has intensified his xenophobic attacks on Somali Americans, including his long-running nemesis Ilhan Omar, a representative from Minnesota who is Somali American and came to the US as a refugee. He has said that Omar is “garbage” and said Somalia is “no good for a reason”.

This is being blow *way* out of proportion:

[Walz on frozen federal child care payments: ‘This is Trump’s long game’ ](https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/5667686-tim-walz-trump-administration-frozen-child-care-payments-minnesota/)

    >Dating back to 2022, the Justice Department has charged 98 people in connection with the sweeping fraud case, which concerns businesses that falsely billed programs under the Minnesota Department of Human Services (MDHS).

    >Joseph Thompson, assistant U.S. attorney for Minnesota, said at a press conference earlier this month it is possible that “half or more” of the $18 billion billed to 14 services under the MDHS since 2018 is fraudulent.

    >Court records reviewed by the Minnesota Star Tribune earlier this month indicate that the alleged fraud is closer to $218 million.

The speculation was that $9 billion was fraudulently stolen, but so far about $218 million has been proven to be so. Halting payments child care payments nation wide is wildly disproportionate to the crime that has been investigated with prosecutions occurring in 2022.

CNN even questioned the YouTuber of the viral video, who appears to not understand how day care centers work:

[CNN reporter grills YouTuber whose Minnesota day care video went viral ](https://thehill.com/homenews/media/5668221-cnn-reporter-confronts-youtuber-minnesota-daycares/)

    >In a segment on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” reporter Whitney Wild confronts Shirley outside one of the centers that featured in his viral video, which has received particular attention for its misspelled sign, “Quality Learing Center.”

    >“Did you come during normal operating hours when you came to visit?” Wild asks.

    >“I came at 11 a.m., I believe, and then also came the following day later in the day. The point of it is not whether or not I came at the right time of their operation hours, the point is that — blacked-out doors, they can’t give you any information, you call that number, no one answers,” Shirley responds, wearing a sweatshirt mocking the center’s misspelling.

    >“I wasn’t trying to go inside and there should be a way for somebody to actually be able to call that number and somebody be able to answer it. These aren’t real businesses,” he adds.

    >“But surely you don’t think a day care should just be unlocked? You shouldn’t be able to just walk into a day care,” Wild says.

    >“There should be a reception,” Shirley says.

    >“No, every day care is locked,” Wild replies.

    >“So OK, you bring up a fair point then,” Shirley says. “But why can’t they actually give me information how to enroll a child?”

    >Wild says she called the same day care facilities that Shirley visited and only one answered.

There was one day care center that addressed Shirley’s accusation of fraud and why he was turned back:

[Director of Minnesota day care featured in YouTube video on fraud responds](https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-day-care-fraud-director-responds/)

    >On Tuesday afternoon, WCCO found more than a dozen children at the day care working with several adult staff members. Director Ahmed Hasan said that they were working on basic language and math skills.

    >”Every day is like this,” Hasan said.

    >On the day Shirley came to the center, the time stamps on the day care’s security tapes show that he arrived around noon. WCCO reviewed security footage showing families evidently arriving to drop off their children earlier that morning and later in the afternoon.

    >When Shirley knocked on the door, he seemed to fabricate a reason for being there, asking to check a child into the day care. A staff member responds verbally but doesn’t let him in; Hasan said that they can’t allow strangers into an active day care. In addition, he said that Shirley had a team of up to eight people with him. Some were masked, according to Hasan, which set off alarm bells for his staff members, given recent ICE activity.

This is the same YouTuber who tried to legitimize Trump’s lie that Haitians were “eating the cats and dogs” with an “investigation”.

Walz wanted $39 million back in March for fraud investigations and was rebuffed by Republicans:

March 2025 – [Walz proposes $39 million anti-fraud plan that includes new centralized investigations unit](https://www.house.mn.gov/sessiondaily/Story/18635)

    >New hires, better use of AI and increased data sharing are ways Gov. Tim Walz has suggested the state use to go after people looking to commit fraud.

Rep. Jon Koznick (R-Lakeville) and Rep. Jim Joy (R-Hawley) expressed concern about increasing the cost of government with darker financial times looming.

What we’re being told is we can’t stop fraud without more money when we’re looking at a nearly $6 billion deficit, Joy said. “I would encourage us to try to find other avenues.”

  19. > States’ funds will be released “only when states prove they are being spent legitimately”.

So how the fuck are states supposed to do that?

    > O’Neill (HHS Deputy Secretary) declared that the department had “activated our defend-the-spend system for all ACF childcare payments across America” and would now require “justification, receipt or photo evidence before we make a payment”.

    Oh.. Anything else?

    > Recipients of childcare funding will have to provide HHS with extensive documentation, such as “attendance records, licensing, inspection and monitoring reports, complaints and investigations”

And who the fuck is going to review these documents when at least 10,000+ federal employees were layed off this year?

    >….. Nothing

How are these programs supposed to gather this information without funding to continue operating?

    >….. Nothing

Never had this kind of documentation needed for the PPE loans.

  20. That will definitely help the economy!
