  1. The article was published today/ after the operation.:

    >The news Saturday that—per President Donald Trump—the US had enacted a “large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader” reminded many that in November, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles told Vanity Fair that an ongoing campaign against Venezuela and its president, Nicolás Maduro, was focused on blowing up boats as opposed to an incursion on the country’s soil.[…]

    >Wiles admitted then that an attack on Venezuelan mainland would require congressional approval. “If he were to authorize some activity on land, then it’s war, then [we’d need] Congress.

It seems, as if she deliberately misled the public/ Congress members.
    If so: She should resign.
If not: She should resign in protest.

PS: According to the article, she told that in November. The interview was published mid December.

  2. What’s this “Congress” of which she speaks? It doesn’t appear to be functional anymore.

  3. It’s just a matter of time until the entire Trump administration is tried for war crimes.

  4. This is why people are confused: Wiles made it sound like “of it’s land, it’s war and we need Congress,” yet the U.S. just launched major strikes that arguably cross that line. Now critics are pointing out the inconsistency and calling for accountability.

Agree with that perspective. Decisions this serious should involve congress so responsibility is shared, not rushed.

  6. I’m sure she came around to their way of thinking on this over time, as she did with every other thing she claimed to disagree with them about.

In the United States of America, yes. That would have been correct. That *was* correct. The United States of America, or the constitution and laws that made the USA a legitimate country, don’t exist in their entirety any more. It is now “the former” United States of America.

  8. susie wiles literally told vanity fair that land strikes in venezuela need congress approval trump just ignored that and bombed anyway, lmao.
