Solid state batteries have been known about and a goal for years now. The problem is producing them at scale at an affordable price. Current attempts at industrializing the process is resulting in failure rates in the 80% range, which quintuples the price. At some point somebody (maybe these people) will crack the code, and they become standard. But that hasn’t happened yet.
Solid state batteries are really hard. Current tech uses a liquid medium to fill the space between the cathode and anode, and the liquid simply fills the space due to gravity. Solid state batteries try to fill that space with a solid, in a device that heats and cools, changing shape and size. Getting a solid to do that is tough. Getting it to do it dependably during fabrication is the challenge.

Well, supposedly it’s going into a motorbike which also has the Donut wheel motors – with the long range battery promising 370 miles and 10 minute charging which is pretty darned good, if true..
