    >Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who has jurisdiction over the Pentagon’s budget as chair of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee, said it’s not “appropriate” to target Kelly’s retired rank or pension because of the video urging members of the military to defy orders they view as unlawful.

    >“I don’t think that’s appropriate,” Collins said Monday of the proceedings Hegseth announced earlier in the day against Kelly, a retired Navy captain who flew 39 combat missions as a naval aviator and four space missions as an astronaut.

    >Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) called the Pentagon’s censure of Kelly “ridiculous,” even though he strongly criticized the Democrats’ video urging service members to ignore orders they view as unjust or illegal.

    >“That video was rage bait … but my gosh, he is a U.S. senator who operates in a political world,” Tillis said, according to a reporter for HuffPost.

    >“I think it has a chilling effect on speech, and I’ve got a real problem with it. And I think Hegseth overreached,” Tillis warned.

Collins and Tillis know that all Hegseth is doing here is making Kelly a better and better prospect for a 2028 presidential run.

OF COURSE one of them is furrow her brow in concern and not do anything else Collins.

  4. Problem is that it takes roughly 13 republicans to convict for impeachment. Too many stooges in Senate to protect Trump and his lackeys.

“Hey Guy, you’re breaking the law so you can go to war with Venezuela for funsies. If you publicly ” punish” an actual proper warrior, people will think even less of you, but none of us will do anything about it, aside from some fabricated “warning” to you so that people think we actually care about anything other than our pocketbooks. So we’re going to “caution” you against taking such bold moves that were telegraphed before our daddy even took office.”

it should be all of them. They are all rotten cowards who are letting a full on Nazi in Stephen Miller run us into WW3.

Someone should inform Tom Tillis what ridicules is.

Such as the president attacking Venezuela, claiming he needs to take over Colombia, Cuba, Greenland, Canada….Thats fucking nuts Tom. Wake the fuck up republicans.

    Here’s what Mark Kelly said:

    >If you’re doing something that is just completely unlawful and ruthless, then there is a consequence for that… That’s why the military said it won’t follow unlawful orders from their commander-in-chief.

Oh, wait, I’m sorry, *Pete Hegseth* said that in 2016 when Obama was President.

Kelly essentially said the same thing last year, stated he agreed with what Hegseth said in 2016, and, furthermore, *admitted* that Trump himself had *not* given any illegal orders.

So… what are we doing here?

  9. How about the retirement benefits he yanked from Trans-military members who served honorable just for being Trans, Susan?

You think you could stand up for the front line people too?

  10. I love it, let him do it – then ratfuck as many as you can when the tables turn. Own the Repubelickers

  11. Only 2? It feels like nobody with **any** power is standing up for *anything* ethical anymore.

  12. This is going to backfire on MAGA. It is propelling Mark Kelly to the forefront of the media. I don’t think MAGA is going to benefit from having a literal war hero and astronaut as the Democrats’ standard bearer. He’s not a blue-haired liberal that is easy to caricature. (No offense to my blue haired liberal friends). His wife is a beloved political figure who is a survivor of a mass shooting.

This is one case of when your opponent is messing up, just let them.

Not appropriate?! Fuck off, Susan Collins. For once in your spineless life, get off the fence or get out of the way.

  14. Stop the presses: Susan Collins furrowed her brow and clucked her disapproval on her way to christening the new 4-H goat milking station in Haynesville.

  15. I think a better response I would like to see from any sitting politician of any party would be “This will only assure your conviction when you are prosecuted under The War Crimes Act (18 U.S. Code § 2441)”

How about they grow a spine and morals and impeach him instead so he can rot in prison where he belongs.

  17. I still think Kelly would have been a better pic than Walz. Nothing against Tim, as he seems like a good and decent man. I just have a ton of respect for Mark Kelly and everything he has done for our country. These rat bastards won’t win and they just keep on digging in.

    We’ll bury them in time…

  18. Until Republican senators start going en masse on TV and saying ‘we will not stand by while the executive branch tries to eliminate us as a co-equal branch’ then nothing will change. The senate used to be an adversary to the President, now they are just his fluffers, hoping that he will still be popular enough by their next election to squeek by.

  19. Better be careful, the GOP won’t be in charge much longer, and what goes around comes around. There are several current members of the GOP caucuses in both House and Senate that are veterans and or retirees, including Hegseth himself, that could be targeted by Democrats in a major tit for tat. The time of Democrats taking the high road all the time is over.

  20. No, they don’t. They could watch Trump personally slit Mark Kelly’s throat in front of their eyes, and the most they’d do is say that it was rude.
