I hate Donald trump, but it softens our case to so freely state that he has dementia. I understand this came from one of his former staffers, which, obviously… expect no less. This is the exact rhetoric they used with Joe Biden.
There’s clearly cognitive decline, no question. I just don’t see anything that suggests that Trump has actual, diagnosable symptoms of dementia. Anything that you might point to is likely a personality trait that’s always been there. Rambling, jumping from one topic to another, boredom with what someone other than himself is saying; he’s extraordinarily consistent with his talking points, goals, and presentation, whether he’s rallying for the press or in a stadium in front of a crowd. He really doesn’t miss a beat there.
Something is absolutely wrong, I just don’t think it’s right to just lump folks in the dementia bucket when they hit a certain age. I think it makes us a look petty, and it’s entirely unecessary when there are so many other things we can be jumping on him for, including just general age related decline.
