This means that despite what happened, Ochoa and Gutierrez might not face any meaningful consequences unless there’s an overt violation of *clearly established* law, which in police-shooting cases, is often a near-impossible threshold. The wild part is that CBP agents, due to their training and mandate, operate with almost zero civilian oversight in situations like these. It has taken eight days to release these names, but took only a few hours to try to slander Alex Pretti’s reputation! Just wondering, considering the names of these murderers, if they ever think to themselves, when receiving their list of targets, how similar their own names must be to some of those unfortunate enough to be on their radar? Do they not realise fate can turn on a dime, mistaken identity can happen, especially when names are common or quite similar?
May they never again know peace, solace, or anonymity.
