With the 2026 midterms approaching, the Trump administration has shifted from imposing civil litigation and political pressure to threats of forceful, violent law enforcement and criminal prosecution and removing from states their constitutional prerogative to control their own elections.
What comes next? No one should be surprised if the Fulton County raid turns out to be just the start of a broader strategy to potentially discredit unfavorable election results in 2026 and 2028.
They are testing the fences while the DOJ is still trying to figure out how to put its shoes on
This isn’t about proving fraud. It’s about making every loss feel illegitimate by default.
The mechanism is exhausting the system until nobody trusts it, including the people running it. Once that happens, every result becomes negotiable.

Seizing ballots and election records from a country that already already certified its results and survived recounts feels less like law enforcement and more like political theater designed to cast doubt before 2026.

What can states do now to safeguard elections from the interference they are telegraphing 9 months out?
– Make ICE enforcement unlawful during voting times as they have been used for intimidation.
– Make it unlawful for any agency to seize ballots during or after the election.
– Make purges of the voter roll require notification with instructions on how to re-register and unlawful within 9 months of an election.
– Allow same day registration to vote.
– Expand early voting and mail in ballots
– Make it unlawful for votes to be discarded for dubious reasons.
– States should coordinate with joint legislation and legal action before and after the election.
Other ideas?
If I worked in an election office, I’d be start relocating voters rolls and records to a “safe” location. But that’s just me…
