It really shows how out of touch he is. I think he was genuinely surprised. Good for Vance that Trump reflexively defended him, but that won’t last if Trump, who sees other people as extensions of himself, realizes Vance is unpopular.

  2. Justsomedudeonthenet on

Trump has surrounded himself with people who tell him that both the USA and him personally are beloved across the world. Anyone who even hints otherwise finds themself out of a job.

So of course he’s surprised. That’s his warped perception of reality at play.

  3. Trump does nothing but tell lies. It’s a strategy that narcissists use. I mean how can anyone not like who he picked for VP.

  4. Surprised 🤨 ???
Vance gets BOOOOED everywhere he shows up.
Since everyone with common sense is responding with…. He gets booed more frequently than Chris Collingsworth, bwe should call JD, Boo-Boo?
Trump could be Yogi, or is that dishonoring The grest Hanna-Barbera cartoon team?

  5. That’s what happens when you’re surrounded by sycophants and you don’t get out much…..

  6. It’s not that surprising. International crowds don’t live in the right-wing media bubble where Vance is constantly framed as some rising star.

  7. IRideMoreThanYou on

    > That’s surprising because people like him,” Trump told a reporter while aboard his Air Force One en route to Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday.

The lack of self awareness and delusion is only offset by the gaslighting.

  8. OldSchoolBubba on

Un huh. That’s why Vance was sent so Trump wouldn’t be embarrassed.

Trump loves large crowds but knows he isn’t popular too.

  9. The Olympics aren’t a rally. When you show up tied to culture war politics, people react accordingly – especially outside the U.S.

  10. renegade_yankee on

Trump surrounds himself with yes men who gas him up so this isn’t surprising.

This is the same dude who fired his campaign manager in 2020 because he told him the truth that he could very well lose to Joe Biden.

  11. reddittorbrigade on

Donald Trump is out of touch with the world these days because he is so busy enriching himself using our tax dollars.

  12. Trump acting shocked is the funniest part. He’s spent years pretending global opinion doesn’t matter, until it embarrasses his circle.

  13. Frank__Lloyd__Wrong on

Well this is gonna ruin the narrative from maga on TikTok who are desperately claiming the booing is fake news and the president of italy got on his knees and blew him live at the ceremony

  14. That’s what happens when you surround yourself with cucks and yes men, you end up believing people praise and love you while the reality is the absolute opposite

  15. OneMoFrigginTime on

The politicians of Europe try to maintain diplomacy in their dealings with the Trump administration, but the citizenry?  Not so much.

  16. “surprised” says the guy who completely out of touch w/nearly everything. He’s personally made every other country in world distrust, loath, and/or hate the US. And, nobody anywhere likes Vance.

  17. Trump: “That’s surprising because people like him.”
Reporter: “Do you like him, Mr. President?”
    Trump: “Who?”
    Reporter: “JD.”
    Trump: “What about him?”
    Reporter: “DO YOU LIKE HIM?”
Trump: “No, I don’t fucking like him. I think that he’s as weird as tits on a bull. Why do you ask me this?”

  18. Trump doesn’t give a crap whether Vance gets booed or not. Probably can’t stand the slimy couch humper anymore than the rest of us. His only concern would be whether or not the boos were a bad sign for himself. Which they obviously are.

  19. Tribute2BizzareMilk on

He’ll probably put a big tariff on Milano cookies as retaliation, thinking they’re from Milan.

  20. I’m honestly surprised the athletes got cheers and the boos were only for Vance. A level of restraint and kindness we can hardly say we deserve.

  21. DriveSlowSitLow on

Geez, it’s like he’s completely unaware of himself, his surroundings, and his bullshit administration or something!

  22. he probably has no idea he is hated as much as he is, with little stephen millers in his ear

  23. jeanvaljean_24601 on

He truly believes that the US is “more respected than ever” or some bullshit like that.

  24. USA is pretty much hated on the world stage at the moment. Untrustworthy, arrogant and unstable The damage this administration (and all of you toads that voted for him OR stated at home), has done, will take decades to undo.

  25. These fucking goons are so terminally online and so surrounded by yes men and sycophants that they no longer live in reality. Ive never seen people more in an opaque bubble than these people

This is the brain rot presidency

I have a strong suspicion that they are going to get absolutely fucking *obliterated* this November, like, its going to be a historic loss

Im not banking on that, everyone needs to get out there and vote, but the fucking backlash is shaping up to be monumental

  26. They’ve got their head so far up their own ass they actually believe that the world likes them and they’re doing great things for the country.

It’s almost inconceivable that people can be so oblivious.

  27. ParisGreenGretsch on

He isn’t surprised. That’s exactly why he himself didn’t show up in the first place. We all know that, and I’m tired of combating these headlines. I’m tired, boss. I need my country back.

  28. Careful-Rent5779 on

So essentially POTUS is as much out of touch with the rest of the world as he is with the US.

EDIT: He probably thought his Davos speach was well received.

  29. They should ask Trump how he feels about Vance being better liked than him. THAT will hit home.

  30. Trump isn’t surprised–there’s a reason he didn’t go to the Olympic opening ceremony himself and why he’s avoiding the SuperBowl.

Trump gets booed at pretty much every public appearance he’s made where he doesn’t control who gets in.

For every American who grabs their ankles for Trump, there are two who want to see his corpse hanging in state at the Capitol rotunda.

  31. Acceptable-Lie188 on

They used to say that the Queen of England thought that the whole world smelled of fresh paint.

  32. TemperateStone on

We all hate you, Trump admin.

We could be standing in front of you and spitting it in your face and you’d still deny it, because you’re incapable of understanding criticism. You’re broken in the head. You are sick and disgusting.

  33. Of course he’s surprised. He’s nuts.

Remember all the media hoopla about Biden’s supposed dementia? Why aren’t we seeing the same media frenzy due to Trump’s clearly insane behavior?
