  1. I’m usually not on the side of the deeply religious type, but Talarico actually seems like a decent human being.

  2. Talarico is a far better choice than Crockett. Beneath the fact that she gets into fun arguments against Republicans, and the fact that they freak out about her for a slew of obvious reasons related to her identity, she actually is a pretty standard moderate Democrat whose policies are far too tame for what we need right now.

Also, Talarico is relaying a message that has a much better chance of attracting Texas Republicans, even though both the essence and the specifics of that message are actually to the Left of what Crockett is offering. His rhetoric about religion, corruption and populism are exactly what Democrats around the country should be copying.

  3. Who’s the last person to go all the way from state rep to Senate? I know Joni Ernst was a state senator but that’s the closest I can think of. Talarico is the better choice here though. If the general election is him against Paxton I think he wins.

It’s absurd that Ken Paxton is leading the GOP primary for this senate seat. The indisputably trashiest of the lot.

  5. Voting for Talarico. Crockett is great at attacking Trump Republicans, but conservatives have been throwing money behind her because Talarico is a bigger threat. So there is a concentrated effort to siphon votes away from Talarico by playing the race card at every turn. Crockett is pro-Israel, and is pretending like she doesn’t have ties to AIPAC. When asked about it her defense is always “it’s because I’m a black woman” no ma’am it’s because you are supporting Israel propaganda machine. I don’t care if Talarico is Christian, I’m not going to cynically put down someone who seems to actually be following what Jesus preached. BTW watch the interview he seems sincere.

Trump et al is going after Talarico because he poses a real danger to erode Trump’s base.

Talarico will reach those who have been pulled in by the white supremacy ‘Christians’ and are beginning to come to their senses.

This will reach much further than Texas and could have a significant impact on the midterms.

  7. Talarico’s interview with Colbert should win over anyone on the fence who actually wants Democrats to win.

If Crocker loses the primary, is she out of Congress or can she run as a house member?

Crockett is too popular of a Democrat to win in Texas. The GOP probably has hours of footage of her railing against Trump and that’s *probably* enough for Paxton to squeak out a victory. If Talarico doesn’t win the nomination this seat is staying red.

I think Crockett or Talarico could be a good win for Texas. That said, we need far-reaching progressive policy to crawl back the decades of abuse from establishment corruption.

It sounds like Talarico is willing to go the distance.

It’s a shame they’re competing for the same seat but Crockett seems more driven by sound bites than movement that’ll actually do something.

I don’t live in Texas but Crockett is a bit of a performer, it comes off as disingenuous. I dunno the authenticity isn’t there, I wish she were a bit more serious and less pithy.

However I did get served an IG reel for Talarico capitalizing a little sensationally off of the FCC Colbert thing. Maybe it’s just that all politicians are inauthentic when they’re clamoring for attention. Maybe I’m just sick of politics? Probably

They’re both fantastic. Texas you’re lucky to have this choice. Vote with your heart.

  14. I wanted to run through a fucking brick wall after hearing that Colbert Talarico interview. More of guys like that, please.

  15. The amount of republicans looking to switch is kinda eye opening. Never heard of dude until Colbert situation. That just gave more eyes to him. Even the racists bots are voting for him.

I like talarico it if it was my state I’d vote for crockett. She’s unapologetically honest and outspoken. In a time of spineless politicians she is a breath of fresh air.

  17. I think with either one it’s going to be close in the general. Crockett may be able to bring out more progressive voters, but also may bring out more republicans to vote against her. But Talarico is so much harder for republicans to attack, which may mean more republican voters stay home in November.

  18. Talarico does little to expand the voter base. Crockett won’t flip many votes, but can expand turnout in urban areas. Talarico won’t flip many votes either.

  19. It sucks to see two such amazing politicians wasted in a battle against each other, but it will make each of them better than they would be otherwise.

  20. Talarico is skipping steps and if he wins the primary he will get exposed. Crockett has a proven track record of taking MAGA folks to task consistently. Just look at what she did to Pam Bondi.

  21. Talarico reminds me a bit of Obama with his speech, intelligence and charisma. Honestly I could see him appealing to a decent swath of Texans. If he can get out and energize, in a down year for Republicans without Trump on the ballot he might just have a shot.
