It absolutely does make her more qualified to govern, but the people that say this against her and their supporters don’t intend to govern, and don’t want to be governed, they intend to lord or rule over the people in the positions of power they attain and their supporters want that.

That’s what makes AOC, and other progressives aligned with her, different.

  2. Strange-Effort1305 on

Republicans are so subservient to unearned wealth they will murder a middle class perosn who gets anywhere near the white house.

  3. I spoke with a Republican from New York a few weeks ago about AOC and Mamdami and obviously he is not a fan.

I just said ‘at this point, I don’t care about political affiliation, I just want politicians who actually give a shit about working people’. And he couldn’t deny it.

  4. There is no net worth that is ok for a Liberal to have. Either its too low and they are unskilled and dumb, or its too high and they are hypocrites for wanting to help poor people.

  5. Cold_Specialist_3656 on

I like how the narrative of AOC constantly flips ftom “out of touch elitist” to “poor stupid bartender” LMAO.

    MAGA is truly brainless

  6. The party of “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps” certainly does hate it when people pull themselves up by their boot straps

  7. Fragrant-Vehicle-479 on

Republicans: Politicians are all out of touch elitists who have no idea how a real American lives

Working class turned politician: You’re right. People like me need to stand up and fight for us!

Republicans: No no, not like that. I meant a wealthy business man. Like a billionaire.

  8. Anything to denigrate her to distract from the fact that she’s more appealing to more people than the traditional Schumer democrats that are happy to lose to the republicans as long as they sent a sternly worded letter.

  9. TrumpsShriveledPenis on

    Kennedy is 100% fake.

He’s got an Oxford pedigree but acts like your drunk uncle from Alabama when he’s on tv.

He’s a slimy weasel always putting on an act.

  10. I thought pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and making a name for yourself was a key republican belief.

I guess they don’t like it when it isn’t a white person who actually succeeds, huh.

  11. Imagine living in a world where politicians mock someone for wanting to earn an honest living.

  12. C’mon, how could serving and conversing with hundreds and thousands of working folks trying to relax after their hard days labor possibly prepare you for politics? It’s not like she was an intern at daddy’s PE firm or something.

  13. Republicans literally mock someone for having a JOB?! Isn’t that their entire platform, to get people working? I can’t fucking wait for that party to go away forever.

  14. The audacity of AOC having a job while at college to pay for school. Why didn’t her parents use her trust fund? /s

  15. MirthandMystery on

Why is this being dredged up again and without important context.

AOC was just a sophomore at Boston University but went back home to bartend from school to help her Mom pay bills and stay in her house because AOC’s dad had lung cancer and was going through expensive care. He died of it and his health care related bills and loss of income being unable to work were a great burden on her Mom after he passed.

If anything this is a good story to show how responsible she was stepping up to take a real and regular job to support her family and didn’t avoid taking on great added stress. What MAGA youth would do that for their parents today??

I honestly wasn’t a fan of hers when she first came up (for all reasons unrelated to her directly) but this convinced me she was legit, ready to lead and she’s proven her worth in office ever since.

Republicans continue to denigrate her and every other woman any way they can, especially when they’re Dems. It’s the usual immature sexist nastiness.

These suits always hate the Carhart’s that built this country.

They reap the benefits of hard work and dedication of the working class.

Yet look down their but inserting probiscis with no shame.

  17. wolf_at_the_door1 on

Take one look at everyone in this administration and only a couple have the actual qualifications. Their arguments hold no water on any merit-based argument. Merit was thrown out the window with this administration. Loyalty is the only thing that matters to the GOP.

  18. Well, their god-king pretended to work at McDonald’s to “prove” EXACTLY THIS supposed connection with the common folks.

  19. Republicans – Democrats are elitists who don’t like working people

Also Republicans – AOC had a normal job and is therefore unqualified to govern

Given Kennedy’s track record of voting to confirm uniquely unqualified and dangerous fucks to Trump’s cabinet positions, I don’t think he’s in the business of telling anyone who is qualified for a job.

  20. Are they still trying to make that stick? I don’t think even my ultra conservative family cares.

Don’t get me wrong, they **really** don’t like her, but they stopped caring about the bartender thing ages ago.

  21. She worked hard, got an education.

Paid for it and isn’t taking corporate PAC money to help herself get ahead.

Like fuck you for thinking she’s less than you for working twice as hard to get where you are.

  22. EmergencyJacket207 on

Republicans really do hate the working class. How is it their sheep still support this nonsense?

  23. She should have been working as political hack since college like most of them. A lot of these guys have never worked at anything like a real job in their lives.

  24. UsedandAbused87 on

“We dont want another career politician!!!”

    Holds a real person job

“She’s unqualified because of her college job!!!”

  25. If you’re a working class Republican, you’re a tool for the rich, and they mock you behind your back for being such a dumbass. I’ve spent lots of time around these assholes, so trust me, I know

  26. She used that job as a server to pay her way through an Economics degree at Boston University. She also had awards for STEM stuff she did in high school. AOC is probably one of the smartest, most educated, well-rounded, and articulate people in Congress.

  27. One_Artichoke_7594 on

Yea I don’t get that all accounts I’ve seen have her net worth around 100k +-. Basically, a person on a 175k salary and saving some of their income. Millionaire seems completely false

  28. RandomNameOfMine815 on

The “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” crowd suddenly dismissive of someone who did just that.

  29. geologicalnoise on

15 years in the serving industry.

Learned how to respect those who work their asses off. I always brought drinks to the kitchen and back of the house members because they were just trying to get home to their families with just a little bit more in their pockets then they came in with – and they didn’t get tips. That shit is hard work.

Grace is the number one thing this world is missing, and AOC took more shit then I can say on here as a bartender. I will back her no nonsense approach any day. She’s an actual person who gets it. Even after being in Congress for as long as she has – it’s clear we’ve just been sending the wrong people to the hill.

    More like her.

  30. ThatUsernameIsTaekin on

Fun Fact: Trump never ran for any office before his presidential bid in 2016. Literally no political experience ever before running for president.

  31. She graduated from a school where half of MAGA supporters would get laughed out of the building if they sent in their HS transcripts to apply.
