  1. News snippet: Senate Republicans are on Wednesday expected to vote down a Democratic-backed war powers resolution that would prevent Donald Trump from continuing the conflict against Iran, with majority leader John Thune arguing the president is “acting in the best interest of the nation”.

Democrats have condemned Trump for ordering an air campaign against Iran without first seeking permission from Congress, while offering shifting explanations of its objectives. The war powers resolution introduced by Democratic senators Tim Kaine, Adam Schiff and minority leader Chuck Schumer would force an end to US participation in the current hostilities and require the president to go to Congress before re-entering the war.

MAYBE Congress should have done that back when he was threatening Greenland and Canada, and kidnapping other country’s presidents!!!

CONGRESS is a fucking joke! It’s not Trump’s fault Checks & Balances don’t work, it’s theirs.

    REMEMBER THAT IN NOVEMBER!!!

So, the House and Supreme Court have already given up all of their power to the Executive Branch and now the Senate is on track to do the same.

  4. Trump is out of control. He’s now just firing off abuse at European allies for not helping. This is his and Israels war alone. The whole thing continues to look more and more haphazard by the day.

Seems to me as they didn’t think they’d kill the Ayatollah so quickly and are now just pissing in the wind.

covid demonstrated those in power can do whatever they want when they want.

Did Trump start these wars because the Supreme Court ruled against his tariffs?

  7. I’m not sure if it’s related to the conflict, but Diesel is up to almost $5 a gallon in my area. My Trump cultist parents just bought this $100k truck that is diesel.

I hope this isn’t stopped because it seems the price of gas is getting a little high.

  8. Guaranteed all Republicans will vote against, along with Fetterman.

Collins will issue a statement about how concerned she is.

Two biggest “victories” of Trump campaign: lower gas prices and stock market. I mean what’s left?? How can anyone support him at this point? People hate high gas prices

  10. And how will you enforce that? This whole administration is based on the simple truth that people do not know how or simply will not enforce the rule of law at this level.

The only enforcement is impeachment. Why do this whole charade and not go for the only motion that carries real enforceable weight.

This will fail because Schumer must continue to prioritize Israel over the US.

War is Israel’s plan more than Trumps, especially if it involves Iran. While reread some material related to Trumps other Israeli middle east warring follies I came across this gem:

Ivanka Trump manipulating daddy to strike Syria in 2017 after seeing images of victims killed by sarin gas by the Assad regime. But the real reason was she (now known as Yael- she converted to Orthodox Judaism in 2009 before marrying Jared Kushner and took the Hebrew name “Yael”), needed to defend Israel and create cover for investment concerns of Ira Greenstein and his ties to Genie Energy subsidiary Afek Oil and Gas, in the Golan Heights, which was a private firm operating in Syrian territory occupied by Israel. Netanyahu may have also been personally invested.

Ira Greenstein is a lawyer who worked with Jared Kushner in the first Trump admin, and is a personal friend of Charles Kushner. Greenstein used his brief WH access position to do telecom deals which enriched him to the tune of millions.

Genie Energy founder Howard Jonas donated to Bob Menendez shortly before U.S. military action in Syria and soon after sanctions on Iran were tightened. Leon Black, founder of Apollo Global Management, also donated within 24 hours of the Syria airstrikes, after which Menendez publicly supported the strikes. Howard Jonas also owned IDT Corporation, the IDT telecom building in Newark NJ was once owned by Charles Kushner.

Menendez and W.V. rep Joe Manchin later voted in favor of confirming David Friedman, which connects those political actions to donors linked to energy and pro-Israel policy interests.

Genie Energy’s Strategic Advisory Board has included Rupert Murdoch, former CIA director James Woolsey, Dick Cheney, Larry Summers, Jacob Rothschild, and Michael Steinhardt (notorious for insider trading and stock manipulation), and others.

The fact that he didn’t organize allied support before hitting Iran just shows how stupid this administration is.

it’s not the fucking votes that matter for senate, no one has the spine to ENFORCE anything.

  15. Nothing has stopped him doing what he wants thus far.

I can’t say I’m optimistic that this will work.

  16. Hmmm. if they vote against the war, would it matter? Would Trump actually “ refrain from continuing the Iran conflict? “

  17. ComicRelief64 on

Why is Schumer’s face in the thumbnail for this? He’s obviously going to vote against it because a certain Yahoo told him to.

  18. GeneralKenobi_212th on

And let’s count down to every republican (and one or two utterly spineless democrats) voting against it.

  19. So when he ignores the resolution to stop the attack. Congress needs to impeach, convict, and remove him from office.
