I know this is anecdotal, but there’s a lot of people in my social circles who are currently out of a job. This is rare, since few people I know have ever been laid off, and those who were found new jobs in a matter of months. Have a couple of neighbors who have been looking for over six months. And we’re a pretty small neighborhood.

The US had 5 months last year with job losses (December has just been revised down to -17k). There had not been a single month with job losses since 2020.
