It would be foolish to go into Iran without at least a half million troops. A million would probably be better.
Iraq was easier, with flat terrain and centralized authority. Iran is mountainous and has decentralized its command structure so that cells can fight without relying upon the leadership for instructions.

If these troops make landfall we will be seeing the same grisly drone footage that we see from the Ukraine war but it will be American soldiers instead. The only country where this war is popular is Israel, where it is wildly popular because Americans are fighting it. The American public do not want this war but it will be their sons dying in it.

If there’s going to be an amphibious landing, that’s a relatively small amount of targets that have to make it through the Strait (hard) or land on Iran’s southern coast and then fight from the furthest region of Iran moving through multiple mountain ranges toward Tehran.
The first ones to land will be bombed left right and centre from Iran’s various militarised mountain ranges.
A land invasion from the north, Turkmenistan… Obviously off the cards. East… Afghanistan… Lol off the cards unless Trump wants to activate the Taliban again… South East, Pakistan… Not happening whatsoever, a lot of sympathy for Iran there… West in Iraq… Not happening… Loaded with Iranian paramilitaries actively making any US bases there a nightmare for any remaining personnel based there. Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan will all also want to steer well away from any conflict with Iran for myriad reasons.
Maybe they’ll come in through Kuwait, driving through a tiny part of Iraq (likely loaded with Iranian paramilitaries already)… But that still means fighting through massive mountain ranges and being well within range of all of Iran’s drones and missiles.
Honestly I don’t see how the US will manage this. Especially more or less solo.
