And unlike Trump, we didn’t even have to Photoshop.
Next stop: May 1st, 2026-General Strike
For those able, no work, no school, no shopping. Money talks.

It means nothing if people don’t vote.

(european pov) randomly seen on tv they are huge, but somehow they still feel unremarkable, like there’s nothing to report besides their size… but I guess making trouble like picking up some farmers and spray government building with manure/dung like they do in european protests would lead to escalation too quickly in the states, no one wants riots…

So massively offensive and corrupt, this administration is.

I was stuck at home with RSV so I was hoping to watch on YouTube and watch afterwards and could find hardly ANY stuff one it.

There’s a gap here. People need to transform protesting into politics yes it’s ugly but that’s how democracy works
I still can’t believe the power of this nation and they are still missing direct voting!

Wow, those rallies really made a statement. It’s impressive to see that level of turnout and energy.

So were the rallies with pussyhats and nothing changed

Ok but then what. I’m not against the message but these feel like slacktivism at it’s finest. Numbers do matter but signs don’t get results.

Protests are for awareness. If you don’t do anything afterwards they’re useless.

Looks like the next one is going to be a strike on May 1st!

Euro people will still question why we “aren’t doing anything” though

Ok, and what did they accomplish? Did everyone go home after their permitted time was up? Was there any actual leverage asserted to enact change?
No? Ok. Why are we all obsessing over this like it changes anything? They don’t care what you think, and they are setting up the secret police and militarized government to start punishing those who even hold a sign in the future.
This delusional assumption that walking around with a sign is going to prompt change is wild.
To be clear I’m not advocating violence, but there are non violent ways of asserting pressure.

And mostly useless. A protest with police approval on a weekend disrupts none of the enemy’s schemes, it’s just screaming into the void to feel better. Now, If they actually do a general strike that’s actually got a chance to be effective.

I could not attend, as I was driving from Oakland to Portland on my way home from vacation.
What I got to experience, however, was how widespread the protesting was. Left the rental house at 8am. Stopped for breakfast in Castro Valley, saw a protest starting to form up. On my way through Oakland to cross the Bay Bridge, saw another. Stopped at the Presidio to take pictures, saw more people with signs. Then saw some on my way out of town, some on the Golden Gate, more in Sausalito, and at just about every small town we passed along 37, 505, and I-5. Small towns like Williams and Arbuckle had protests just like San Francisco and Redding. We’re they as big? No, of course not. But 30 people with signs on an overpass over Interstate 5 at Orland gets seen by a HUGE number of drivers and passengers.
Made me more than a little proud.

General strike, while no kings rallies are a show of solidarity they don’t really accomplish anything
They aren’t some grand disruption, the country needs to be ground to a halt.
Without a general strike this is all just performative
I’ve heard something about may 1st

And will achieve practically nothing because the media controls the narrative and the government controls the media. Americans need to move past token gestures that make them feel like they’re resisting and start actually resisting.

These protests need to end up being on the doorstep of wherever DJT is, so he can see personally. Otherwise it’s just a day of TV to him.
