The key is whether or not Republicans are successful in their efforts to rig all future elections.

  2. wanderingpeddlar on

People need to make it TRUMP republicans not just republicans from now on.

They backed him, they ignored him breaking law after law.

They now get to own their actions. For no less then three decades or when all the TRUMP republicans are out of congress.

They are going to cry about it but they have earned it.

  3. Adventurous_Test_296 on

Good. There was a 40 year, give or take, period of time there was enough sound thinkers to advance the country despite the stupidity such as we’re currently struggling through.

  4. Trump is doing everything possible to centralize everything in the oval office so the other branches of government won’t be necessary.

  5. SAFE or some other election-rigging aside, I think it’s a given that the Dems take the House. Historically, mid-terms go to the opposition party. What WILL be more interesting is if they can take the Senate.

  6. Always the same cycle…..

    1. Republicans get us into a war.

    2. Economy implodes.

    3. Democrat is elected and the economy starts to recover and the country heals.

    4. Republicans get re-elected.

    Repeat the cycle.

  7. Ran the country in to the ground and then quit with lifelong benefits. Almost like the executives of big corporations and private equity do then fuck over all the working class employees and take their golden parachute.

  8. If we lived in a sane country there would be no Republicans in power and they’d be as irrelevant as the Libertarian party.

  9. Bubba_Gump_Corp on

Classic republican move. Execute a massive heist of wealth and leave everyone holding the bag when the shit crashes down. Then blame whoever is cleaning up the mess for not cleaning it fast enough, get reelected, repeat.

  10. Independent-Reader on

Republicans are crawling back into the woodwork, leaving Democrats to fix all their fucking blunders, once again.

  11. Morgan-Explosion on

GOP destroyed everything they touched in just a year and a half. Its truly mind blowing.

  12. Motor_Somewhere7565 on

The writing is on the wall of the House. I just hope they take the Senate, too.

  13. Sufficient-Yam6787 on

They broke America, and then retire in a record speed for their big fat retirement check

  14. MrBaseball1994 on

Not only that, I think that if they follow through with their idea to cut more healthcare to pay for the illegal war, there may not be any Republicans left in Congress at all.

  15. UncleGarysmagic on

    Could win?

Betting markets have them at about 85% chance of winning.

Even the Senate is in play now.

  16. AcanthisittaNo6653 on

If the ones who are not running for re-election were to resign en mass, democrats could take control before the next Congress.

  17. People might be finally catching on this time and the Republicans could lose power for a generation if the Dems do the right thing and abandon their Clintonian corporatism, overthrow the leadership and get back to their populist roots.

It is a slim chance but the the only real hope for the future of the Republic

  18. Unusual_Specialist on

My hope is the new elected find a way to release and prosecute everyone listed in the Epstein files.

  19. Beneficial_Equal_324 on

Midterms almost always favor the party opposing the President, and the Republicans are currently holding a tiny majority in the house. Why “could”?

  20. rvretiredlife on

Well let’s hope when the dems win the mid terms, that we reverse all the shit Trump and Republicans put into play.

  21. They may win the House. Who knows about the Senate? Expecting the Dems to win deep red seats where a Republican is retiring is fantasy. It might help them in a swing district

  22. There’s still another consideration. Don’t elect the do nothing centrist AIPAC shills that have catered to Republicans the whole time. Voters need to pick actual progressive candidates at the primaries.

It’s not a win if people like Jeffries take back the reins. We will be right back in the same spot in another couple years.

  23. Stunning-Chipmunk243 on

I think they know some shit is going to go down with the mid term elections and those with any sort of moral compass don’t want to be a part of it written any in future books on this turbulent time in America’s history

  24. I’m actually sick of seeing these headlines. I know it’s “good news” but nothing is guaranteed until it happens. Like when Hilary was the nominee everything pointed to it being the biggest landslide of all time and she still lost a bunch of key states and lost the electoral college. When Kamala was the nominee for the last 2 months of the campaign it was being hyped in a similar fashion.

Liberals do not get complacent. Do not think your vote doesn’t matter, even if you think it’s going to be a landslide and you’re in the biggest blue state with the biggest blue district. GO VOTE. I get it, everything in life is trying to stop you from voting between voter registration, busy life schedule, work, traffic, long lines, etc. GO VOTE. VOTE EARLY. And VOTE IN PERSON.

  25. Despite their many flaws, the Democratic Party is the only party capable of effectively and competently running our country as things stand currently. Republicans should never come close to this level of power ever again.

  26. Temporary_Heron6944 on

This country is such an abusive relationship. GOP makes a mess, Dems fix it, GOP comes back to steal everything and make another mess then leaves, Dems fix everything again, etc etc. Except what is happening in recent history is, Dems are in on “the take” and have little incentive to actually fix the broken cycle. It’s really going to take a strong populist movement, true democratic socialist leadership, if we have any hope of breaking the cycle. Or we can let it go on until the planet implodes and everyone goes to mars.

  27. Rats jumping off a sinking ship no one likes what and how this administration is doing things. The heritage foundation is slowly decaying and they know it. They are trying to save the petrodollar by consolidating oil from other countries keeping control. Renewables are not part of that plan. That’s why they are against wind and solar. Epstein Epstein Epstein just to keep it viral

  28. I’m pretty much over any of my old acquaintances due to the constant head in the sand attitudes. “Both sides are equally bad,” “why are people saying no Kings? We haven’t had any since the 1700s!” So shocked by how many of the “free thinkers” I used to know post the same literal slop as those crappy Republican pages on Facebook.

  29. GoodGoodGoody on

    Two irristable urges:

    – for the lazy 1/3 of eligible Anericans to get off their asses, including morons screaming BOYCOTT VOTING!

    – for Republicans to not vote Republican because after all that’s how their grandpappy voted and they’re afraid.

  30. They still vote as a unit!! if they’re not coming back, they could do some good in the world before they leave!!

  31. My theory is it will be harder for democrats to run against “fresh face” republicons, than the “retiring” republicons responsible for all this bullshit.

Gives independents the false choice of voting for the new guy who is not a democrat.

  32. Humble-Translator-88 on

Jump the ship but we need to replace the crew with people who actually will do something and I don’t want empty promises from the Democrats.
