Thank Newt and Norquist. The house, technically if you want to go by founders original MO, should be largely center left. It’s supposed to reflect population, whereas the Senate is land. So you’d think urban densely populated areas would tend towards center/center left in general. But RedMap gamed the system so that extremist wins in gerrymandered district, and they can pretty much be as far out as they like without risk of being primaried. A national indie districting for fed elections would end that.

This is why you don’t let the particular brand of Christianity represented by Speaker Johnson any-fucking-where near power. They do NOT want to live in a democracy. They want to impose their will on everyone. That’s *exactly* how Johnson governs the House. Every time one of these funding disputes pops up, he either blocks the vote or it gets voted down, and he closes the House to prevent any debate or negotiation.
With Johnson, its always “Do As I say, no negotiation. Period.”
