Well, let’s be clear that even though the Norwegian government holds the majority of shares that doesn’t mean that it is government controlled. This is simply a private company doing business in Canada. You will have to look far for a large publicly traded company that Norway doesn’t own a part of.
Even so… as a Norwegian, I don’t see why Canada shouldn’t tax the hell out of oil extraction. Just like Norway does….
we should quit oil as soon as possible though.
