If we’re not going to do communism and achieve full democracy then anything short will always be chipped away at by private interests as they accumulate wealth or authority, until we’re back to gangsterism. You know, the situation that arose immediately after agriculture when only the most violent of our ancestors enslaved their fellow men, formed harems, and we lost 16 out of 17 Y chromosomal lineages in those generations everywhere across the planet as this transition occurred. I’m sure that hard limitation on our gene pool hasn’t set us up for continued competition and violence or anything.

Where they used to play in their sandboxes of corporate capitalism, and their power mostly restricted to being within their own country, they’ve grown unchecked and are playing with countries, the global population, and even the habitability of the planet.
