I would hope that all American conservative Catholics stop betraying their faith after seeing this bag of shit spew hate at their religious leader, but I’m less than optimistic.

Trump is the conservative god now.

  2. >“The bottom line is this, the Pope is emblematic of Catholics here in the United States,” he said. “The Pope is far more popular with the American public than Trump is her in the United States, and Trump has been struggling with Catholics here in the United States very much so losing a lot of ground.”

    >The Pope is far more popular with the American public than Trump is her in the United States

Oof, the extinction of the copy editor.

But also, expected result. It’s literally the pope, most people look favourably on him like the Dalai Llama, Queen Liz 2 (Head of the Anglican Church), Mother Theresa or Gandhi. Which isn’t to say this inidivuals aren’t flawed or had skeletons the public ignores, but I mean it’s kinda hard to beat a calm non-violent religious figure as a blowhard populist who tries to grip strength as it slips through his hands like water.

Vance doubles down that Pope should say ‘Thank You’ for Trump installing the Roman Catholic Church agenda in the Supreme Court.

One of the few people in the whole world NOT to get in a verbal spat with, and he does it anyway. Homilies on Sunday should be very interesting.

I legit wanna see this one turn into a fistfight. Full on Pope Gear Leo versus suit and tie Trump. No AI…For real throw down!

I’m an atheist and I feel as though the shade the admin is throwing at the pope is both disrespectful and harmful.

  7. The pope appears to be a genuinely good man. He is embracing peace, and reiterating messages of inclusivity and forgiveness.

Trump is a bombastic pedophile with entitlement fueled narcissistic personality disorder. Oh yeah— he also has dementia, a low IQ, is greedy, is prideful, is gluttonous, is lustful, is wrathful, is envious, and judging by how many hours he golfs on the job is also lazy. Any real Christian would notice at least 7 attributes there that we don’t want in our leaders.

  8. The Baptists and other evangelicals are not going to care so much, to many of them the Pope is a heretic in charge of a cult.

The Pope is weak on crime? Tell you what, go to the Vatican and try to commit an armed robbery and see how fast you get your ass handed to you.

Well trump does seem to be the current loudest voice for Lucifer so that makes sense.

  11. “The Pope is weak on crime….”

Bruh, you’re talking like guy’s the fuckin DA in Manhattan instead of a religious leader for billions 🤦‍♂️

  12. We tend to see all organized religions as being the same because we fear looking prejudiced. It seems much easier to acknowledge cultural differences than religious ones because of how intimately faith intersects with identity. Anywho, I was brought up in the Christian tradition and I have always felt very different around Catholics than I felt around Protestants.  Catholics never saw Trump as one of them. He was just a generic conservative. They were 62% ot Catholics who identified as moderate or liberal, vs. 35% who identified as conservative.  Catholics are a diverse group politically too and hard to pin down for politicians.

Even Stalin famously asked how many soldiers does the Pope command and had reservations about pissing off the Vatican.

Friends said to me back in 2016, “America needs a businessman as president.”

To which I replied, “Are you sure you want *this* businessman as our president?”

  15. I love how the “battle” with the Pope is Trump shitting all over him and truthing images of himself as Jesus, while the Pope says, maybe we should have some peace and less murder?

  16. Adept-Target5407 on

This is such a wild and stupid fight for Trump to even get into in the first place. He could so easily just ignore that the pope exists and he would fare better. As a wise man used to say “Stupid is as stupid does”.

Bubbling beneath this feud is a DC elite Opus Dei members chafing at Pope Leo radically reining in Opus: Federalist Society Co-chair and mega donor-broker Leonard Leo, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts, Bannon, and (according to rumor) Justices Alito and Thomas, along with Vance (who is at least Opus-adjacent). The Pope facilitated a conference between Ending Clergy Abuse and women suing Opus for allegedly trafficking them into servitude for senior priests as impoverished girls coerced under the guise of a hospitality education. Pope Leo also met with Gareth Gore, author of the investigative book Opus: The Cult of Dark Money, Human Trafficking, and Right-Wing Conspiracy Inside the Catholic Church. The Pope alerted the media to the meeting, which sent a certain message.

  18. I’m pretty sure the only other person that he could have blown up at and had a similar (and likely *worse*) negative reaction from the populous is *Dolly fucking Parton*.

  19. It’s insane that Trump would pick this battle and therefore shouldn’t be surprising. Par for the course.

Catholics are instructed to believe that the Pope (any and all popes) are LITERALLY God’s representative on Earth.

No man can challenge this. Enter mango.

You can bomb Iran if you’re stupid enough to ignore your own intelligence agencies but you can’t alter the foundations of a major religion.

  20. I am an Atheist.
Simply a “Lapsed Catholic” to a lot of my family and the Monsignor they still invite over for the ocasional Sunday meal.

I have a great deal of criticism of organized religions and in specific The Roman Catholic Church.

But I have been willing to admit when both Popes Leo and Francis had made positive strides. Nowhere near enough in my opinion, but that’s not the point I’m trying to make.

There is no winning for Trump here. Most Catholics will always favor the Pope and a lot of us on the periphery would still prefer to stand with him when condemning acts of violence.

Greatest kid diddler organization versus the greatest kid diddler.

It’s going to be a great fight.
