> According to recent data, close to 60% of Teamsters members reportedly plan to vote for Trump, reflecting widespread discontent among union workers who feel increasingly disconnected from the current Democratic administration. The Steamfitters Local 638 union is seeing an even higher number, with an estimated 70% of its members now favoring Trump for the upcoming election. Similarly, estimates suggest that between 65-70% of UAW members are also leaning toward supporting Trump.

Everyone remember Trump trying to lecture Harris about not breaking contracts (the contract in question happened to be with terrorists, which he didn’t want to break)? His administration seems awfully adept at breaking contracts made in good faith, then fumbling over themselves when the consequences come back.

Oh boy, here we go again, breaking more laws! Aren’t we on a roll…
Yes, it is against the law for those curious. And, this isn’t the first time the Trump org has broken union contract laws this term.
Union contracts or Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) are legally binding contracts, not just voluntary agreements or guidelines. Once a union and an employer (even the government) negotiate a contract, both parties are legally obligated to follow its terms for its duration.
Companies or employers, including the government, cannot legally terminate a union contract at will. Doing so is a violation of federal labor law.
This will eventually get blocked and reversed if it goes to a judge who doesn’t “MAGA-interpret” the law in favor of billionaires and big business. Then it’ll get appealed to a more conservative group of judges on the appeals court, and, if those judges aren’t MAGA enough, it’ll go to the shadow docket, which should not exist.
Edited one word.

Everyone who buys into this notion that we won’t be able to undo what they’ve done have fallen victim to the ratchet theory. If republicans can destroy decades of effort in one term, a true opposition party must restore it in their terms. They must also punish and imprison bad actors. Democrats won’t be the ones to do it.

Let’s not forget what a union is. The ruling class wants you to think of a union as some kind of outside organization that swoops in to take your money and give you nothing in return.
A union is just you and your buddies standing up for each other. That’s it. It’s not some outside organization, it’s the workers themselves saying “treat us better or we won’t work for you anymore.”
If one worker says that, they get laughed out of the office and/or fired.
When *all* of them say that, they suddenly hold all the cards. They have power over their employer, and can force better treatment.
Of course the employer might just fire them all, but who are they going to hire? Especially if the job requires expertise and training, the workers are rare and valuable, and not easily replaced.
