The reality is that a US President has very little control of fuel prices. Unless they launch wars and create global instability in trade and transport markets. I mean, you can really only make it worse as markets are based in predictability. War does not create predictability. And Trump is, in the kindest terms, unpredictable. And he’s made it worse.

In a stupid presidency, those warnings are treated as “disloyalty” or “negativity.” If the president’s rich buddies tell him they can keep the price in the $90s through the election cycle or the next quarter, he’ll take that ‘win’ today even if it guarantees a systemic collapse tomorrow.
You don’t need a PhD in economics to realize that if the oil isn’t moving, the price eventually has to reflect that, no matter how many billionaires try to cap it.
