To be fair, Trump needs twelve extra pairs of pants and underwear for an 18 hour flight, so for him, it would be very inconvenient.

This is the kind of thing that irritates and saddens me about modern warfare: it feels like there’s never actually a decisive end in a peace treaty or victory. It just feels like once a conflict starts, it flares up and goes down, like some incurable chronic illness or fire that always smolders. Nobody wins or agrees to stop fighting.
Then again, I wonder what historical wars were like in their time.
Media, video games, and pop history would make it seem as though peace negotiations are these climactic things that happen after some turning point (like a major battle being won), or there are vague “peace feelers” (behind the scenes “I’m not saying but if I was saying would you…” negotiators) sent when one side begins to lose. I wonder what previous eras were like: did people in previous wars have to put up with aborted peace talks or “Just one more week/month.” kind of rhetoric?
We all famously know the “Home by Christmas” mood of WWI (I’m old /s) but that’s more like arrogance at the start rather than the constant on-off-on-off-on-off of a modern war. Living through modern history makes me wonder how previous wars or generations felt. Maybe the whole idea of a “decisive victory” or “peace treaty” is actually a historical anomaly.
For example, did ancient empires ever really “conquer” an area in the sense of effectively enforce their own government and laws onto a new people? Or was it just a glorified “the peasants send their taxes east instead of west now”, or was there always some kind of constant “low intensity” smoldering that just didn’t register as an official war to history?

There were never going to be talks. Not with Iran present.
How can anyone now question Iran for wanting nukes as a deterrent, when they’re being threatened, bombed, and murdered by a nuclear-armed nation ran by psychopaths?

the iranian FM had reportedly already left Islamabad. Trump is just trying to save face.

Like litterally the Iran FM officials said the trip to Pakistan was just a leg of a multi national trip and they were not meeting Americans. But since the Iranians didn’t do it as a coloring book President Sundowner didn’t get the memo and got confused. Luckily some White House aide put a Matlock episode in to the VCR.

Fat Orange is desperate for a deal. The Iranian FM’s trip to Islamabad has been scheduled for months. They never had any intention of sitting down with a bunch of lying, dishonest, untrustworthy Americans for more face-to-face meetings, at least not this weekend.
Obviously Fat Orange needs to save face so of course he has to be the one to ‘call off’ something that the Iranians weren’t interested in anyway.

Why Rubio is sidelined, he is the secretary of state that should be heading the negotiation. Instead we have a Saudi envoy Kushner and Witkoff, both have investment interest in middle east. They and Trump family are receiving money from Saudi, Qatar, UAE to erase Iran from the map. This is a war of interest.
