Tech bros as the out-of-touch controlling boyfriend again. Takes a couple of three years to realize their girl’s not happy. And now it’s time to beg and make them feel like their emotions are unreasonable and wrong.

My wife’s company appears to be tracking AI proficiency by counting how many times she uses it.
She used it to get some basic ideas for a roadtrip that were maybe 50 percent accurate and now has a 100% proficiency rating. Hasn’t touched it for actual work.

trump might be the worst possible person to be President at this moment, as the ai transition begins. His primary motivation is benefiting himself above all else. He is easily fooled and manipulated. And he only listens to those wealthier than he is. He doesn’t care about the impact on workers, communities, or the environment.
And on top of it all, he’s lazy and not willing to fight for anything he finds boring.
The pros and cons and opportunities and threats of artificial intelligence are insanely complex. Our savior? Our doom? Both, actually! Threading that needle for the American people is remarkably difficult.
And ai Jesus memes aren’t the solution, believe it or not.

AI is incapable of complex critical thinking and analysis. And it doesn’t have the capacity to question itself or know when it’s wrong. It simply cannot replace human intelligence in the way these techbro overlords want. But if people continue to rely on it, we will start to lose these critical analysis skills. So basically, stop using AI. Or you will usher in your own demise.

A lot of the AI stuff is really getting on my nerves. It’s infecting everything and making so many things worse.
Example – My company uses a third party application, and I am more or less in charge of it. This app is used by a lot of fairly big companies. It started throwing errors. Like deep down javascript sort of errors, mentioning libraries I had never heard of. I did my due diligence of trying to solve the issue myself, and all the solutions related to that error mentioned stuff that I had zero control of. It’s clearly a problem in their core code.
I submit a ticket and BAM. I’m bombarded with AI generated ‘solutions’ that were the verbatim responses google gave me when I did my own search.
Second example – Wife is submitting an expense report for her work. SAP see’s an item on a larger receipt that the company will not reimburse for and tells her that she needs to mark that item as a personal expense. Except she has. And a clearly stated so multiple times in the comments of the report that she has itemized that portion of the charge as a personal expense. SAP’s AI keeps seeing the line on the receipt and keeps kicking it back to her. No human is looking at it.

The pushback against AI in this country is going to be cataclysmic. People already feel under-paid, under-appreciated as it is and now you want to take away their jobs, and you think there won’t be some type of rebellion?
