May it backfire on them spectacularly when they find out how much the Latino vote has shifted. 🙏

I like that we are on a path now where the GOP is eventually going to argue against gerrymandering because the Dems know how to better weaponize it….and they can get voter support to do it.

First and foremost, I think the decision is a bunch of crap.

That said, from what I’m reading, they only struck down one of the notions for the lawsuit against the maps – namely, that the redistricting was done to disenfranchise specific racial groups – and so the corresponding stay was lifted. Other challenges remain in play.

Civil War II is going to not be north and south. It’s going to be blue and red. I hate this fucking timeline.

Hey, where are all the conservatives raging that this is anti-Democratic? No? Nothing?

  6. I’m starting to think that this “supreme court” may not have the best interests of the American people at heart when it comes to their prima-facie biased, and increasingly political rulings… not to mention their increasing use of questionable shadow docket decisions.

  7. Show how fucked up SCOTUS is. When people know exactly how they will rule, just on who’s side filed the case . Last check shadow docket was 80% PRO-trump. Tells you all you need to know.

It’s no surprise, the Roberts Court has been probably the most aggressively anti-democratic Court in our nation’s history.

complete hypothetical; but wouldnt the ‘smart’ move at this point have been to rule it unconstitutional in such a way that it invalidates CA and VA? it seems like if all three are valid then this all ends up benefitting democrats. not that im complaining it feels nice to be benefiting from this barny fife ass situation.

  10. Absolutely ridiculous given how negative – to rig – the states intent was, but at least it gives California and other states the greenlight too. However, this series will upheave overall how various voting and elections are counted for generations to come.

Next, the Supreme Court officially blocks blue states from doing the same thing….

  13. “We can’t have CA and VA have their way with gerrymandering!  It’s necessary to let Texas have their way too.”

  14. So we can’t dilute the votes of ethnic groups but we CAN dilute the votes of political parties…. K…

  15. Is this the same Supreme Court that ruled gerrymandering ‘non-justiciable’ when the Dems brought suit?

What has changed that gerrymandering has suddenly become ‘totally justiciable’?

  16. tiredofwrenches on

They are the worst of the lot. We should just get rid if all of them and start over. Crooked, liars, unethical .

  17. I think, or perhaps just wishful wanting, that Texas is SO gerrymandered and Trump is SO unlikeable that these new maps can really blow up in their face
