Just days after a judge said Trump can’t build a ball room for non-security reasons, he happens to go to his first WHCD in 10 years
cnbc_official on
The plaintiff in the lawsuit challenging President Donald Trump’s $400 million White House ballroom project on Monday rejected a demand by the Department of Justice to drop that legal challenge in the wake of a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner that Trump was evacuated from.
“Your assertion that this lawsuit puts the President’s life at ‘grave risk’ is incorrect and irresponsible,” wrote Gregory Craig, a lawyer for the plaintiff, The National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States, to DOJ Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate.
Plaintiff: ‘You do know we all saw your immediate reaction to do your bs ballroom comments right?’.

Security was obviously not an issue if they were not even checking id’s hiring a real security detail would be less expensive than a new building that would have the same lack of protocols

The real reason Trump wants a ballroom is that he’s fucking old.
Traveling is hard. And at 79 years old, traveling from DC to Florida is hard on him. He is basically trying to move Mar-a-Lago to him so he can just be corrupt in one place.

I find it very interesting that AI will not generally not give you information on defeating or bypassing NBC protection systems for bunkers (what keeps their air clean and if you defeated it would force them out) when you are doing research for your post-apocalyptic novel.

The perfectly coordinated rhetoric (sus) that “see this is why we need the ballroom” is soo stupid. Not every event is going to be hosted in the ballroom. Trump went to a UFC fight recently and he didn’t need the ballroom for that. Also, the reason why the WHCA wasn’t hosted at the White house is because it’s supposed to be a independent press group. They are not supposed to be an extension of the White house. Even though, now they basically are just stenographers for whatever Trump farts out his big pie-hole mouth.
Second. Regardless of our feelings on “do we need to build a ballroom at the white house”. The real problem is the President is not allowed to just knock down entire wings of the white house. It is not “his” house. It is owned by the Federal government. He can not take private donations (bribes) and just build whatever he wants. We do not wants Presidents, regardless of party, to just remodel the historic building in his/her image after every election. Not to mention the huge waste of money.
If he wants to change the white house, then fine. Go through the proper process to do it. Make sure it follows the rules and the American people get a say on the construction. Then get it funded by congress so we know that no corruption happens.

I don’t understand this expectation that people should forgive and forget a person who has had a near death experience ( which may be why Trump leans on it so hard).
It just shows severe emotional disorder.
Like you’ve observed someone who tearfully forgave their teenage son for skipping curfew, after he was in a bad car accident, and think to yourself “hey, I’ll try that!”
“I have observed that normal people forgive other people who have almost died. I want people to forgive me. So I will appear to almost die, and all will be forgiven.”

Why is the media and this current administration framing this incident as an assassination attempt solely against Trump?
It was a building full of people that the suspect shot into before being stopped, he didn’t go straight for Trump. Even the suspects manifesto reads like he’s aware of and disgusted by the amount of corrupt, nasty individuals being in government. And I agree with him. Not condoning his actions though, no one should feel they have to take an act like that.
However, Trump and republicans have spent years normalizing mass shootings. “My rights, my rights” have been screamed from the rooftops and the crazies getting guns is a necessary evil we have to accept has been a major talking point. Trump said “get over it, this is the new normal” after the parkland shooting and to get a gun to protect yourself.
Why is maga land so upset if shootings are normal? Is it because they don’t care about violence everywhere else, only when it’s at their doorsteps?
