I’m not about celebrities running for political office, however, if Jon decided to run, I firmly believe he would have Obama level aura and be able to win.

Sure are a lot of “both sides are the same” vibes going on in this thread. Keep getting republicans elected, im sure that will fix things.
Edit. I absolutely agree dems need to make changes, but those things that need changed are nowhere near as bad as what the republicans bring. If you think both sides are the same then I can only assume you speak from a place of immense privilege if republicans don’t affect your life negatively enough to vote against them.

The 80 year olds and Corporate shills that run the DNC are out of touch with the average citizen you say? I’m sure top minds in the DNC are working on a viral TikTok dance to address these concerns.

Ken Martin, Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries need eviction notices before the end of the day.
It’s long overdue for the DNC to clean house. Don’t give a nickel to the party. Give direct to candidates.

It is. Which is why this election is so important. The takeover of the dnc by new people and actually left wing people has begun and they will inject the voice of the people into the party.
This is why the primaries are so important. To remove all the dead weight

The sad part is that there are people like AOC and Mamdani who are clearly finding success, and showing what it takes to win hearts and minds as a Dem in 2026, but the party would rather flounder than move even one inch to the left.

It only takes watching the recent interview of current DNC chair Ken Martin on the Pod Save America podcast to know just how truly ass backwards lost they are. They are siding with their rich donors over what their voting base wants, and making it clear they don’t mind losing elections to do it.

They aren’t lost. They know they are failing and don’t care as long as they appease the capital interest (wealthy donors).

He’s right. The messaging is very clear right now. It should be the easiest layup in history to form a cohesive plan. It’s clear what people’s concerns are. Look at Mamdani’s campaign if you want proof of concept. Build on that and you’ll have your votes, but you must deliver or it will be worse in the end.
Instead, they bury their heads in the sand and keep doing the same tired things.

Nope! Working exactly as intended. Democrats are conservative in policy. They’ve been protecting and nurturing neo-lib policies since their first year in office, draining the working class while they built their wealth on top of it. The only reason why I vote democrat is because the large but kneecapped progressive movement we have in America is under its umbrella. The only thing that’s making me happy is seeing that movement actually grow. 2028 will probably be the year of democrat infighting so who knows how the presidential race will go (probably to another outsider celebrity), but hopefully progressives make a big enough of a block in the house and senate. Either way, blue maga will come out on top since this infighting will help republicans who are incredibly unpopular, and even if they loose, their investments will be safe.

Brother,
They’ve been lost. They are still the better party by a wide margin but they seriously need new leadership and need to embrace the progressive wing more.

Pretty much, I don’t even donate anymore, no way I see Schumer and Jeffries as leaders if the Democrats win in 2026 races. They will be utter failures and most likely they will win enough to accomplish nothing of value. And fetterman will sabotage anything that goes to the Senate. I see nothing being done for many years to come.

Democrats could rule the elections if they just came out with some common sense solutions that would take the wind out of the sails of their opponents. Tight border—agree. Athletes participate in the sport of the sex they were born—agree. Now hit them hard on a Path To Freedom for folks already here, universal healthcare, lower taxes, less military spending, term limits. Just have an agenda the moveable middle can agree on. Become the party of Common sense and release those darn epstein files unredacted.
You’ve got to preach to the folks in the middle—and there are tons of us.

The DNC isn’t lost, man. They literally detailed what they intend to (and will keep doing) in 2016, 2020, and beyond.
2016 – They anoint Clinton and she loses.
2020 – They run Biden so “nothing will fundamentally change”
2024 – They run Biden again until it’s way too late, which sets Kamala up for failure
Their playbook is to keep pushing the Overton window to the right and keep it all afloat just enough so that they continue making money from their bribers; I mean donors. It’s just that their messaging absolutely falls apart now that the GOP isn’t even pretending to care about governance.
OrganicDoom2225 on
They’re dated, infested with AIPAC money and serve the Billionaire class. They also actively ignore real progressives like Platner, El Sayed and Mamdani.
America needs the political pendulum to swing past the center this time into systemic pro-labor governance.
