It is crazy how Maher tries to frame being effective as being “like Trump” just because it is loud. Newsom has been crushing it lately by actually engaging with the culture war instead of just ignoring it and Bill just seems mad that he didn’t get to dictate the narrative. Sure, I _understand_ the jokes and the gimmic, and he leans into the conservative “if you don’t agree it’s because you’re part of the problem”. But in reality he’s just not that funny.
