The article doesn’t state whether there was any evidence found that what he was doing WAS for chinese intelligence (i.e. chinese gov). Only that he was working for a retired HK police officer.
Thats probably why the jury were unable to decide. Surprised uk intelligence weren’t able to follow the trail of how he was getting paid etc. Strange how the guy he was working with killed himself though.
