I would take a gander that the tension will last even longer than Trump. Trust comes by foot and leaves on horseback. The issue is the Europeans not only don’t trust Trump they don’t trust the US as a whole anymore. Checks and balances down the drain. Stacked courts. And a population who seemlingy is able to vote the next despot who promises the American dream.

Something more sinister happening in the US. Corporate and its capital has more say in how the country is run than the people. The result is snowball effect of corporations getting bigger and bigger until all the people are owned by them.
If I let this fantasy go on a little longer, I can see the US becoming divided into few corporations. Whoever has enough leverage to move the military takes action against its competitors.
That’s my prediction. For the US before the year 2060.
