A Greensboro mother is calling out Republican U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx over a letter she said her son received from the congresswoman after a school assignment.

Emily Mango said her 10-year-old son was assigned to write a persuasive essay and send it to a changemaker. Her son decided to write to Foxx, urging the government to consider giving drivers a rebate for electric vehicle purchases. Mango said the topic was her son’s choice.

Mango said 82-year-old Foxx, who represents the northwestern parts of the state, wrote back to her son.

She posted a photo of what she said was the congresswoman’s reply on Facebook. WRAL reviewed that post before Mango set it to private.

    The letter reads in part:

“What many folks do not realize is that the money that ‘comes from’ the federal government actually comes from ordinary citizens who pay taxes to support that government. Therefore, your request that ‘the federal government should give a $5,000 tax rebate for all new electric car purchases’ means that the federal government must take that money out of the pockets of hardworking people who may not have the means to buy an electric vehicle in the first place.”

In her letter, Foxx cited numerous articles from news organizations and criticized the boy’s teacher, writing, “Please ask your teacher to explain propaganda to you. My guess is that your teachers will not give you a good educational experience and help you learn to think as they are too interested in indoctrinating you.”

Mango called the letter “horrific” and addressed Foxx on Facebook, writing, “Reprehensible response. You crossed a line when you attacked a child and attacked teachers. You don’t deserve to be on a Committee for Education when you talk to children like this and think so lowly of teachers.”

Fox8 in Greensboro reported that Mango’s son was upset that his teacher was criticized, because his teacher did not pick the topic or write the letter.

Although the typed letter was signed “Virginia Foxx,” Fox8 reached out to the congresswoman’s office to ask if she wrote the letter or if it was a member of her staff. The news outlet also asked if Foxx plans to apologize for her letter.

So far, Foxx’s office has not answered those questions.

Imagine being a 10-year-old excited about a school assignment, finally feeling like you have a voice, only to get a ‘horrific’ response from a literal representative. This is how you kill civic engagement before it even starts

To be fair, she’s absolutely right. Everyone knows the next stage of life for *trans kids / brown people / the poors / fucking pick one* is when they’re pressured to be biogenetically merged with woke electric vehicles, like a buncha kickass Autobots, at which point it’s gonna get real confusing for feeble-minded seniors who have no business holding public office.

I’d like to see Virginia Fox write Donald Trump a letter telling him that the One Billion Dollars plus that he wants for a big fancy ballroom for the White House would mean that the federal government must take that money out of the pockets of hardworking people who may not have the means to build their own big fancy ballroom.

    > means that the federal government must take that money out of the pockets of hardworking people

No, it doesn’t mean that. It means the govt. is returning some of the vehicle purchaser’s tax money as an incentive to buy an electric.

  6. oh of COURSE it’s her. She’s such an evil person. I’m in her district and she has this huge plot of land with private roads leading in/out.

During Helene, her private roads were the only way out of the area. All the other roads collapsed. She REFUSED to let anyone evacuate and even blocked off the road entirely. She wouldn’t even let volunteers with donations or the POWER COMPANY through for a MONTH. Oh and then she went on some tirade about how Biden was responsible for the lack of aid to the area.

Wish her nothing but the worst!

  7. Well gosh, Virginia Foxx, where do the corporate welfare dollars come from? I mean I know you are going to “age out” of the problem but the point is extending the shelf life of the planet, moron. You either contribute with your purchase decisions or you contribute cash to the cause. I definitely feel better about my taxes going towards something that helps everybody than I do about tax breaks for billionaires. But I guess that’s too advanced a topic for your tiny brain. Right, Virginia?

  8. Foxx is a poster child for both term limits and age limits. She’s just a mean old hag.

This lady didn’t write it and I bet it was either dictation or outright doing a trump move and having someone else reply to it

    This is funny to me.

She was so blinded by hatred for children and school teachers, she missed the kids whole point.

That hardworking people don’t have the means to buy electric vehicles, which is why he wants a policy to make them more affordable.

It was a really crappy letter especially from an elected official. We elect these officials, place them in a position to represent their constituents and we pay their salaries. We get very little in return. Her reply was not untrue but it did not address the reason that we need to make the switch to electric cars. We also need to create a system where they are not financially out of the reach of most people. We live in an unfortunate period of time where we seem to have let go of the reins and let these representatives forget that they are not the employer they are the employee. We have the right to demand civility, decorum, and appropriate behavior. I understand that we have come to a time where we need to put gentle words aside to put these employees of the people back into proper perspective. This is simply another example of a politician not understanding their position in their job.

  16. Doesn’t have a problem with taking my hard earned money from my pocket so Mark Zuckerberg can buy another mansion, which I don’t have the means to buy myself.

Nobody over the age of 65 should be allowed to run for any office. Vote this old bat out.

  18. The lady had a hard on for hating the peace corps and Americorps. This isn’t shocking, she will burn in hell with all that hate in her heart

When I see all these fcking 70-90 year old senators and congress people it makes me realize that the job must be so cush, other people doing your work, you just spout out bullshit and get rewarded with $ and power while rest of us are trying to retire from actual work.

  27. I’m fucking so over this idea that we shouldn’t subsidize things for ordinary people. The government sure has plenty of ability to subsidize corporate interests, but when it comes to something that will benefit the people it gets attacked.

Ok cool we’re not going to subsidize electric cars, does that mean we get our tax burden reduced and our government has to borrow less? No and no? So why the fuck don’t we subsidize things that are overall good?!
