Republicans effort to ratfuck the Nebraska Senate race fails.
Republicans tried to install a MAGA anti-abortion pastor in the Democratic primary to set up a 3-way race in the general but the scheme didnt work out.

I don’t know much about this but from this article, it kind of seems like a risky maneuver.

I have to hand it to the Democrats for outplaying the Republicans here. I don’t love political ratfuckery, but if they’re going to do it, we have to as well.

I like this. It seems a little dirty but desperate times call for desperate measures. It’s not a fair race anyway.

we should start a party called the Republicam Party and run someone on the ballot for every major office in every state. Half of the the old people with bad eyes will vote for the Republicam candidate.

If only we could have more democrats like Cindy Burbank.

This is an example of how political stuff has become so, so hard for folks who aren’t politically engaged/interested to follow. We have a surprisingly popular Independent candidate for Senate from Nebraska who seems likely to caucus with the Democrats, so the Republicans run a Democrat as a plant to try to split the vote. Then this -actual- Democratic candidate runs and wins so she could drop out and let the independent guy go head-to-head against the Republican. The “median voter” meanwhile has no clue any of this is happening.
But stuff like this ends up leading to shit like Biden barely being able to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, and folks thinking that Dems never do enough when they’re in power. Yes, Dem leadership sucks, but also THIS kinda situation in Nebraska has been happening around the country for almost two decades, and it’s an important reason why Dems (or Republicans who believe in actual governing) seem so powerless. It’s a vicious cycle

This is not how you run a fucking society.
I understand the good (“good”) intentions behind why they did this, if republicans are going to cheat then democrats have to cheat, whatever it takes to beat MAGA, etc etc. IDGAF. I refuse to be happy about this. We deserve a functioning democracy, not each side trying to out-ratfuck the other.

That’s very clever. Here’s hoping it enables the independent Osborn to come out on top here.

> State Republicans have tried to repeal the so-called blue dot system — named because Omaha is a blue dot in a sea of Republican red — but Democrats in the State Legislature have blocked them.
Well, well, well…the republicans don’t like that a minority group is getting a disproportionate amount of representation in an election.
But unlike the electoral college as a whole…this one needs to be stopped. Because it harms them instead of someone else.

Pathetic.
