And there will come no reckoning for these religious bigots that force innocent people to flee their hatred. The people these assholes persecute have more Jesus like tendencies than Christian fascists could ever dream to have.

I’m in Minneapolis. We have TONS of trans “refugees” from other states. And they are so so so welcome here. I know it can be hard to find jobs/housing and it’s expensive to move to another state. And MN isn’t perfect. But we’ll treat you a heck of a lot better than those other states <3

The sad part is this is what the bigots want. They refuse to live in community with folks who are not like them and will destroy the foundations of society to make it so. After a while they flee to more accepting places.
But the bigots are not satisfied they must expel these people from the nation and unfortunately because our system dictates that land votes by pushing people out and concentrating them into small areas they increase their power making it easier to attack the community they already drove out.

Illinois is a good place to be too! It’s a lot more affordable than Seattle.

I’m a trans Uber driver trying desperately to get out of Florida before the brown shirts come. Soon as I save enough for a car I’m off to Vegas which maybe I can afford or West Hollywood which I definitely can’t.

I’m trans. My cis girlfriend and I moved from Houston to Denver because of this and it was the best decision we’ve ever made. Life is just better in blue states.

I don’t know anyone in Seattle who is using the words overwhelmed to describe it unless it’s overwhelmed with joy and happiness in welcoming trans people to their community.

Honestly, after all this redistricting ^(gerrymandering) bullshit, I’m surprised anyone blue wants to stick around their red states. You are very intentionally kept from being represented there, and you’re still paying state taxes… pretty sure there was like, a whole chapter about why that is bad built into American history.

Thank you Seattle for taking care of our trans brothers and sisters who have had to flee disgusting places like here in Idaho where our legislators can’t seem to do anything but pass bills to oppress trans people.

I know not everyone has this privilege, but Canada is also open. If you have the detective work to look for an ancestor that was from Canada, they’re offering citizenship.

I think someone forgot to tell Seattle we are overwhelmed. Yes, some members are requesting the Mayor to declare a srate of emergency to access civil resources like funding, housing case managers, etc. just like we did for the homeless crisis.

Overwhelmed how? The trans population is not that big to begin with…

I think this is mostly Seattle trying to get additional resources to support the increased number of residents. Trans folks, and everyone else who feel uncomfortable or unsafe in their states, are welcome in Seattle, and we’re happy to have you here.

A) They are going to be solid progressive voters which is a huge plus
B) It’s easiest to move if you have means especially to the city. This means the influx is going to be above average weighted towards those who have money and marketable skills.
That is literally the opposite of a refugee crisis

Ok wtf. How exactly is Seattle overwhelmed? An influx of people isn’t a new thing. What does them being transgendered have anything to do with it. Refugees I can see causing some solvable issues given a refugees lack of resources. These people are moving here. They leave their lives in the shitty states and are moving here. What am I missing? They aren’t being forcibly placed here against their will. How is this any different from any other influx of people who make a decision to move here?

Well, this is a boost to Seattle’s property values. It will give them more congressional seats. And Seattle’s economy will boom.
The red states will lose congressional seats, lose tax revenue, and housing values will drop.

Overwhelmed? What? Trans people work and pay taxes and contribute just like cis people. It’s not like they’re homeless or something.

As a trans Seattle native, the only thing I’m overwhelmed by is the cost of living and the increasingly concerning headlines and actions from the federal government. I’m working on applying for Canadian citizenship so that I at least qualify for a passport somewhere.
