    I have gone from not knowing we these bad policies to thinking they need to be comprehensively purged.

    The idea that we should convert affordable housing obligations to fees for developers is also not ideal. It would be better – and as YIMBYs I expect the authors agree – to have a broad land value tax replacing stamp duty and random fees for building, rather than specifically raising costs on new supply.

    This is less for the benefit of developers, who are often bastards whose profits I am indifferent to.  But liberalising supply so landlords and developers build a ton and compete each other’s profits down to the bone is ideal.
