That’s why extreme right and fascist parties like the German AfD are so heavily financed and supported from Russia and by the US.

It is honestly just basic negotiating math. If you are a massive superpower like the US or China, you obviously prefer negotiating with 27 individual, smaller countries rather than one giant unified economic bloc.
It is the exact same logic as union busting. If a massive corporation negotiates with employees one by one, the company holds all the leverage. If the workers negotiate together as a single group, they can actually demand a fair deal.
Kallas is spot on here. Any European leader who thinks they are going to get a better bilateral deal by breaking away from the rest of the EU is just falling for the oldest negotiating trick in the book. You are always going to get a worse deal when you give up your collective bargaining power.

Of course: a United Europe would be a force to be reckoned with, both economically and militarily

Yes, stay together Europe, that’s your best bet in these uncertain times. Be vigilant of the beasts to your east and west. Stay strong, you’ll make it passed this; you’ve been through way worse.

If you run into an American with a strong opinion about European federalism, they’re either a wonk or a deluded, paranoid fanatic.

To be fair that’s basic geopolitics, you would always prefer your rivals to be fragmented.
In any case it’s exactly why loopholes that allow individual EU member states to stall the entirety of the EU’s processes need to be closed. You can voice your opinion but if there’s a majority consensus there’s a consensus.

She must be getting flak from people who aren’t happy with her. I hate to break it to her but every country on earth looks out for itself. No one except Europe can or wants to protect Europe. But I would argue the greater danger to Europe is Russia and China, and people within Europe who want to keep it divided. China wants to dominate industry and is actively doing so, and Russia wants to take territory and is actively doing so. If Europe is to ever become a superpower it needs to federalize and spend enough money to build a united military. But so far very few in Europe seem interested or even care.

Crazy that the US even prefers this now, since we were on their side for 70 years. China and Russia makes sense. If they want us divided, then its most likely to start conquering

Kallas is probably right honestly.
A united Europe with 450 million people, massive economic power and growing military cooperation is far harder for countries like Russia or China to pressure individually. Even the US under Trump has increasingly seemed to prefer dealing with European countries separately rather than as one bloc because divided countries are simply easier to influence politically and economically.
Europe has plenty of flaws, but the last few years have made “stronger together” feel a lot less like a slogan and more like reality.

No shit. Where do you have this surprising information from? Did they read the US national security strategy they published last year that stated exactly this?

I’m beginning to think that everything we have been told, fed , to be the right side the good side the side that just wants to get along and prosper is actually a huge lie.
Infact it is the machinations of the west in various places all over the world that has brought untold violence to these places almost solely to achieve material gain and power.
They are simply the more efficient killers and the more hypocritical force.
People who have long lived in relative peace have become infected by the war like nature and traditions of the west and we have all been brainwashed to think that this is the noble path.
The ugliness of the west becomes more apparent each passing day.
