I think this is the third time in my life I am hearing about this position! The first was when they single-handedly stopped student debt relief and the Dems just went ‘well we tried!’, then another time the parliamentarian tried to do something and the Republicans just ignored them. I wonder what will happen this time!

I’m absolutely opposed to the $70 billion the Republicans want to give to ICE, and I was hoping the $1 billion for the ballroom might serve as a poison pill, making enough Republicans vote against it because it’s so ridiculously unpopular. However, that’s a risky bet, as Republicans have no shame and assume people will vote for them no matter what. Apparently they also have to rework the original ICE bill for reconciliation, so maybe that will bring it down. Likewise, House members might tank it due to excluding the ballroom, which would be perfect
