When Argentinians sold their soul to the US, that’s what the US wanted in exchange

It’s nice that the title makes it clear we are talking Argentina’s Milei and not Djibouti’s Milei

  3. Someone guard him. Leaders to push for privatization, the U.S. doesn’t like that

Can someone point to a single example globally in the last 50 years where a Conservative government has privatized a public service and the public actually saw an obvious and tangible benefit over what they enjoyed before? One example would be great, from anywhere, globally.

At some point we do have to blame ourselves, the voting public. Enough of us hear, “The government is inefficient. We should run this like a business!” And just accept that’s true. Why would it be true? The government service exists to serve the public. The business exists to make a profit. Businesses aren’t agreeing to privatize a government service out of a spirit of altruism. They are buying a monopoly, a captive market that must pay whatever they charge. It would be irresponsible to their shareholders not to charge what the market will bear.

Why do we keep falling for this?

I can’t wait for the new ‘Premium Hydration’ monthly subscription tier required just to unlock that public water tap.

Difficult to take someone seriously in matters of economics when they’ve gone running hat in hand to the US for billions in bailouts and they have an inflation rate of almost 35 percent.

Let me guess, instead of letting them actually compete for the business of individuals, they will give out a public tender and monopolize it.

This will short-term help the economy and help the government pay off its debt. Long term it will fuck everyone over.

Life in Argentina is about to become much shittier and much more expensive.

Enjoy the continuing price rises and reduction of quality in those services.

Corrupt governments will purposefully botch public services in order to slowly erode quality and public trust, so they can then privatize it and act like the corporations are saviors.

  12. And theres the “*Magic*” of Milei’s defunding of social infrastructure to “fix the debt”.

Investment groups are gouging out spheres of influence in buenos aires all trying to be the first company to nickle and dime the argentinians into further poverty.

But hey guys he brought a chainsaw on stage come on, no more taxes guys, theres nothing bad that can happen at all hahaha lol
