Unpopular Opinion. What constitutes a good standard of living has exploded in the last couple of decades. Wants have invaded the needs column. Add to that social media and we have a populace that have unrealistic expectations. Government is not going to provide what you seek. If you’re waiting around for that, you’ve lost.

Prime Minister Albanese said a few months ago:

    >”We need to be vigilant. There are some, including some in political life [who] want to turn back the clock to an Australia that is no longer who we are, and we need to call out those people, and we need to continue to cherish our diversity as a strength for our nation, which it is.”

The problem is it demonstrates an increasing gap between political and societal views within Australia. Many Australians would be happy to return to the country they had a decade or two ago now.

In that regard the rise of One Nation isn’t hugely surprising, understanding that people do want a return to the past would be a better starting point to build a political project than “Just push progressivism harder!”

When the people start realise that liberalism is a sham, and yet too intellectually afraid to grapple with communism… ro roh raggy.

  4. Someone should tell the the other parties that defeating One Nation requires a simple new and radical approach:

Formulate sensible, responsible policies and provide a realistic vision and plan for Australia that looks years and decades ahead, and, instead of hysterically fear-mongering by lying about ‘extreme right wing agendas,’ persuade and convince people they are a better choice.

    You’re welcome

  5. What a shitty article. Maybe not everyone agrees with your views? We live in a Democracy.
