Obviously I have zero insight into the actual news that gets shared inside of Russia other than some of the propaganda clips we see shared occasionally on Reddit, but I have to imagine that the Russian people know that Ukraine and Russia are at war right? I’m sure they’ve been told some stupid propaganda version of the truth, but they have to know their country is at war, or maybe they don’t.
Sounds to me that these drones that are attacking Russia need to drop pamphlets along their route saying “This war can end, if Russia just goes home and leaves Ukraine”
I remember the young Ukrainian woman, calling her relatives living in Moscow asking them why they were being bombed and her house destroyed. And the obvious idiots on the other line, claiming there was no Russian attack, it was the Ukrainian bombing their own to blame Mother Russia.

I read some analysis on the russian society psyche that basically said that the russian populace sees themselves as pawns almost independent of the tsar/dictator. they just endure what he does to them and they don’t really seem themselves as a force of influence on him, nor any responsibility towards him
so when they say things like this, they genuinely don’t understand: it’s the govt doing the war etc and not them, they are apolitical so in their mind they genuinely have nothing to do with it as they are not responsible for who runs their govt and what it does
it’s basically a near-universal form of cognitive dissonance that runs deep into their society, but makes sense given where their people comes from
