Yes. The manufacturer has to use the same ingredients and test for bio equivalence with the original drug. Health Canada has pharmaceutical scientists who review all of this and make the decision whether or not to approve the generic. The manufacturing standards are the same for the generic and the original drug.

My pharmacist told me the price difference would only be about 20$. I’m hoping he is wrong but will wait to see.

Are they available in the pharmacies now? Which pharmacy?

All this talk is just advertising the drug, and encouraging people to pursue it rather than let doctors recommend it on the merit of their own expert opinion.
Pharma is in on this.

Reta is better & way cheaper.
Doctor prescribed me wegovy no question asked- $400/ month.
Reta is $80 for 5 weeks & more effective.

I wonder if the company knows something about side effects that the general public doesn’t know yet.
The company that made Fluoroquinolone antibiotics like Cipro inexplicably let their patents expire, and now don’t even produce the brand name version. And in 2020, the FDA added a black box label warning for spontaneous tendon ruptures.
The generic is still sold and still harming people, but the original manufacturer cannot be sued for the side effects if caused by a generic version of their drug.

Yes it’s the same like all generic medication. Also way more affordable and thus accessible.
