Honest question: when an austerity budget is announced, and government spending is to be cut, do people think it’s all gonna come from some Department of Dog Fucking or something? Of course everything that gets cut has a function, it’s the necessity of the function that dictates whether it’s appropriate or not. Seeing as it’s still being regularly reported, I don’t think it’s worth the outrage.

Collecting data is a good thing, but the granularity of that data, coupled with the cost of collection, is an important consideration. If they moved from weekly to monthly, you’d have the same outcry from policy groups.

Personally, I think quarterly reporting is fine.
