    >WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Wednesday. There are 139 suspected deaths and almost 600 suspected cases.

    >But “the scale of the epidemic is much larger,” he said.

    >The London-based MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis estimated that cases have been substantially undercounted and actual number could already exceed 1,000. “The true magnitude remains uncertain,” the research group said in a statement.

I’m curious about the r0 of this strain and watching this cautiously. There’s a lot of factors that are snowballing together (this strain avoiding usual Ebola tests, delayed response, lack of PPE, etc.) It’s not looking good, and is worth keeping an eye on.

Due to regional conditions, obviously the spread (and r0) is going to be higher than in another country without those factors (e.g. lack of protection equipment, funeral practices, civil unrest, lack of basic infrastructure.) If it grows to be larger than the biggest prior outbreak (28k cases, 11k deaths) then there might be a significant change within this strain vs Zaire- especially if multiple clusters start showing up in other countries with localized spread.

This virus is the stuff of nightmares. If it has a mutation to even be *slightly* spread via droplets, then people should be seriously concerned. But we have to wait and see- since we honestly have no idea yet. Not worth clearing out the store of TP yet.

  2. Btw the 2014 outbreak was caught way before this one and we had way better resources. This is going to run rampant and do whatever it wants.

  3. Where in the world is Mr. Prince? How long before we see ebola in us concentration camps. They want population decreases. Mix of climate change, cut resources, greed and power plays. So much room for conspiracy.

  4. Honestly, I’m sort of thankful that American doctor got it and is now in Berlin. This sounds cruel, but now that he’s there, the disease can be better studied and maybe a better treatment plan can be found. One interesting thing about ebola is that many treatments for it were discovered because they were tested on infected doctors and nurses, people who had a better understanding of treatment risks. This particular doctor has very good odds of survival and I hope for the best for him and his family

All of these viruses and diseases start from some dirty poor and unhygienic society.

    Humans need to be culled.
