And now they’ll go on a nice long eight week summer break and extend this war into the fall. I can’t stand all this winning. It’s exhausting. /s

  2. They cancel it and will pressure and threatened few votes needed to pass it

The fact this is allowed and encouraged is an embarrassment to this nation. Combined with the fact that they’re making the conscious decision to cede their power and not do their job – sure does seem like ground for removal.

History will be unkind to Mike Johnson.

History will be correct in its assessment

Pedophile Protector Mike Johnson is awesome at protecting pedophiles, not so great at reigning in a forever war or gas prices. Thank PP Mike Johnson!

Thing is, it’s not going to make it into law.

It should get a vote, they should be on record, but passing this through the House and Senate backfires when Dems find out “wait, it did nothing? TRUMP had to sign it for it to be law, or get veto overridden by an impossible 2/3rds of both chambers? *Why did we put such a focus on it then if it couldn’t work?!*”

When our end goal is getting them on the record, and Trump refusing to sign it, then… we’re not really accomplishing jack shit, we’re being performative.

  8. I’m retired but, it would have been nice to cancel conference calls with customers so I could avoid more work.

  9. Not for nothing, but this is a vote to encourage exec to FOLLOW THE LAW. Not anything new or radical, just if you would please stick to the rules the constitution allows. We’ll take it, but it’s hardly a win when it’s merely to insist on rule following

They don’t want to go down on the record for either supporting the war or voting against Trump you mean. By not voting, they’re effectively doing the former, but without the stigma of having had to vote for it.

  11. What kind of BS rule is this? A vote is a vote. Just because it’ll lose, doesn’t mean you don’t vote.

Can a reporter please ask him, if he supports slush fund payments to January 6th rioters, at what point would he support constituents doing something similar because he won’t allow our representatives to represent us?

  13. What is the benefit to only allowing this speaker to bring bills to the floor? Is it just to keep the schedule from getting too cluttered? Is it just a perk of being in power?

There has to be a reason the constitution is framed this way, but one dude being able to silence the Peoples’ House doesn’t seem like it’s working at this point.

At what point do they recall Johnson? How many phone calls from constituents would the ones voting to cancel need?

  15. Behind the scenes Trump White House is threatening to Primary everybody. And the House Republicans shake.

What even happens if it passes? Doesn’t this administration ignore everything and do what they want anyway?

Congress folk should be making $500k a year and they should only be allowed to invest in index funds PLUS they shouldn’t be able to take a job in the private sector for 5 years after leaving office. Anything with even a whiff of impropriety should result in jail time. Full stop.

I don’t think corruption in government is an insurmountable obstacle.

When you realize that Congress is and has been for a long time just a bunch of actors doing a performance for their patrons.

The fourth wall breaks when they realize they almost threw a prop into the audience.

  19. It’d be super awesome if the House and Senate protocols REQUIRED a vote on anything moved to a vote.

Kinda defeats the purpose if one team can just keep canceling the vote until they have enough to do what they want.

    That’s not a democratic vote.

Has there ever been a collection of weaker-willed, spineless, lackeys in American government than we have now? No one will answer a question, no one will hold anyone accountable, not enough will speak up, step out of line…. we’ve become the worst version of ourselves, and the world is just watching and laughing.

At least those that aren’t suffering as a result of all of this.

Republicans will cheat no matter the cost to make sure they do not lose.
