**In the Shevchenkivskyi district, members of a notification group beat an active serviceman with a Group I disability, forcing his wife under threats to delete footage of the attack.**

A high-profile incident involving war veteran Artem Moroz occurred in Kyiv. Moroz is a serviceman who, after severe injuries and amputations, became a symbol of the resilience of Ukrainian veterans. He appeared publicly and even danced on prosthetics in New York, demonstrating to the world the strength of spirit of Ukrainian defenders.

Now, according to his wife Olesia Zhdanova, Artem himself became the victim of a brutal beating in the capital — allegedly by representatives of the Shevchenkivskyi district TCC and in the presence of police officers, Borg.expert writes.

According to Zhdanova, on the evening of May 21, 2026, the couple were returning home after a rehabilitation training session in two separate cars. After passing the intersection with Ivan Vyhovskyi Street, the woman noticed her husband’s vehicle pulled over on the roadside, surrounded by around eight people in balaclavas and several police officers.

The woman got out of her car and began recording the events on her phone. At that moment, according to the veteran’s wife, one of the masked men struck Artem Moroz in the head, causing him to fall, while another sprayed a substance resembling pepper spray into his face.

“Artem felt that these people might have been under the influence of some substances,” the veteran’s relatives stated after the incident.

After that, according to Olesia Zhdanova, several masked individuals together with a police officer ran toward her, tried to seize her phone, and then, under threats and using physical force, compelled her to delete the video recording — first from the gallery and then from the “recently deleted” folder.

Once they were convinced the footage had been deleted, the unidentified individuals quickly left the scene: the masked men departed in a minibus, while the police officers left in a patrol vehicle.

At around 21:45, the veteran’s wife called an ambulance and the police to document the incident.

Artem Moroz is currently undergoing medical examination. According to preliminary information, doctors suspect he suffered a concussion after the blow to the head.

The situation has drawn particular outrage because Artem Moroz is not only a veteran with a Group I disability, but also an active serviceman. After being wounded, he continued serving in the civil-military cooperation structure, assisting wounded servicemen, released POWs, and the families of fallen and missing defenders.

Lawyers from Kyiv Oblast and the Committee for the Protection of Combat Veterans have already joined efforts to assist the veteran. Artem is also receiving support from fellow veterans.

The story has sparked significant outrage among military personnel and the veteran community, as a man who, after frontline service, amputations, and rehabilitation, demonstrated to the world the strength of Ukrainian veterans, is now alleging he was beaten in Kyiv — reportedly with the involvement of state representatives.

    **Police launch investigation**

Police have opened a criminal investigation into the beating of the veteran in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital.

According to preliminary information, the man sustained bodily injuries during a conflict with members of a notification group — servicemen of the TCC and representatives of a voluntary territorial formation.

In connection with the incident, the Shevchenkivskyi Police Department entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The victim has been referred for a forensic medical examination to determine the severity of the bodily injuries sustained.

    The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

**What the Kyiv City TCC says**

The TCC stated that the direct participants in the conflict and their leadership would be held disciplinarily accountable.

The TCC also stated that an internal investigation is underway. Its findings will be handed over to law enforcement agencies for legal assessment.

They should send those thugs to the front..without a rifle. It’s the only fitting punishment for such a crime.
